Universal Airmiles tickets - can you upgrade?

Hi everyone,

I see a lot of discussion regarding buying a 3-day WDW pass via Airmiles, using at least once at the park and going to Guest Services to upgrade it to the number of days you need it. In fact, I'll be doing that on my trip this coming November.

I have never seen anything about doing the same for Universal Studios tickets.
I need 200 miles from now until the end of October to be able to retrieve the child 2parks/2days pass (2 day park hopper, if we may call it that :)).
I don't think I'll be able to save that much (if only we had Safeway supermarket in Ontario...), so I wanted to get the 1day/1park pass, but ONLY if I can FOR SURE upgrade it in Orlando, paying the difference.

Has anyone done that (ideally, recently)?

Thank you, Camilo

Update: I called USF last night.
The guest relation girl seemed confused at first but after said that "if a ticket is obtained via third party points program, it has zero dollar value and therefore it can NOT be upgraded."

I don't know if the trick to use the ticket first would resolve this problem. I will try to get 200 miles before halloween then.

I was hoping to be able to upgrade an Airmiles ticket too.

I got my son's Universal ticket today and it looks very similar to the ticket we bought last year - it just says LOYALTY ONE on it but there is a comment on it that says "No refunds due to inclement weather". I wonder if you were given correct information or not. You would think that they would allow an upgrade like Disney does because you would have more days in their park to spend on food and soveniors.

Thanks for investigating into this - I would be curious to know if any fellow AirMiles collectors have ever tried to upgrade a ticket at Universal.

:bounce: Bumping to see if anyone has been able to upgrade at the parks. :bounce:

I was under the understanding that you could upgrade them - We got 3 of our 4 Universal tickets through our Aeroplan points and were thinking we may upgrade to the 2 park 1 day option so we could go over to Universal after doing WWOHP.

Anyone ever get an answer to this question? In particular the aeroplan tickets.
