I am going to LA this weekend on business and we have Saturday off. Anyone been to LA UStudios and is Saturday a good day to go? How different is it from Orlando's Univ Studios?

Is the backlot tour a true backlot tour or just a mock one for theme park tourists like WDW's?

And as if I am so lucky, I am going again to Orlando later in Feb with my family to US/IofAs!!!

Only been once so I can't comment on how saturday will be but since its the first weekend of February I expect it would be fine.

Most of the rides are at least similar to Universal Studios Orlando but I do think its worth the trip if you have never been before. The backlot tour is a true backlot tour and is really well done. I wish I had paid the extra money and gotten the VIP version which lets you get out and walk around the sets. But I did not have the time anyways. Other then the backlot tour there are only two attractions I can think of that are not also in Orlando. The stunt show Waterworld (VERY well done) and Backdraft.

The Mummy is different, there is a Backdraft ride instead of Earthquake and the backlot tour is really good. Jurassic Park River ride is a little bit different. They have Waterworld show. We really enjoyed it in when we went in august. We bought front of the line passes. I don't think it should be as busy now as it was in the summer.
