Unique Problem/Question

Myself and the family have made reservations with Disney for a stay in May at POR. I ordered it through Disney over the phone. Now all these codes are coming out(AP, Room Only) and I would like to try and take advantage of them. When I call Disney, they say I can't apply any codes because I have a package deal. How do I go about doing something about this. Do I need to cancel and re-book as room only and buy the tickets seperate? What do I need to do? I would also like to take advantage of the meal plans. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You

My understanding is that to get the meal package you have to be paying rack rate on the room. You can get the tickets with any price on the room.

My understanding (and its new, so take it FWIW - for what its worth) is that if you book a "package" and codes come out, the code will not apply to the "final" bill, but to the "room only" portion of the bill... so in effect, the 2nd poster is correct... in the way I look at it... code for say 10% off, my 2,000, but my room portion of the pakage is... 1000, so the code would be 10% off 1,000, not 2,000...

Certain codes cannot be applied to packages. The AP and FL resident codes are two such codes. They are for a room discount only and they cannot be applied to the room portion of your package.

Some people are fortunate to get an email or postcard with a unique code and PIN number. These codes can be used for room-only and SOMETIMES a "jump code" exists that allows the CM to apply it to a package. Unless you're one of the lucky recipients of a magical postcard or email, you cannot take advantage of these codes.

One discount that does work for both packages and room-only is a AAA membership. If you have AAA, you can book a room thru Disney at a reduced rate or you can book a package thru a AAA agent where the room portion of that package is discounted.
