Unique Dog Names....

My 3yr old golden retriever is named Keeper.

I love that name too. We have a beagle named "Keepsake", aka "Keeper" for short. I also know of another beagle (not one of ours) whose registered name is "Finders Keepers". :sunny:

he actually looks more like "the shaggy DA" anyway his name is Ernie!

I was surprised to see only a few "Disney's" on this thread. We had the name Disney picked out long before we ever got the dog. It suits our little shih tzu pup perfectly!

Our dalmation is named Lucy...that was her name when we rescued her from an abusive family..DH tried to change her name to Blaze (he is a firefighter), but she looked at him like he was stupid when he said it.. :lmao:

I have had:
pekingnese's : Bandit and Peggy Sue Wong (not real sure what mom was thinking here)
Lhasa Apso: Prissy
Maltese: Cody
Mutt: Biscuit
Pomeranian: Mr. Von Fritz (I called him Fritz)
Mutt: Ivory
Poodle: Tina

a cat named Whiskers

and his mom now has a Airedale Terrier named ROOSTER!!! This is the stupidest dog I have ever seen, but it can kill any animal around..I have seen him even kill a hummingbird and those little buggers are fast!!!

We ahve talked about the name Lycan ( yes like werewolf) for a husky, which is the breed we plan on getting in the future. Husband is a huge werewolf fan

We have a black lab named Gus. He came with the name but funnily enough our friends up the street already had a dog named Gus. We keep trying to figure out what Gus is short for...to give him a full name that's just ours. Sometimes we call him Dingus (because he's a goofball). We've also considered Mundungus, since we had cats name Harry and Ginny (and we still have their sister Hermione and another cat named Minerva). Harry, Ginny and Hermione's mom was named Princess Fluffy Sushicat. We've had a Fred and a George as well....black male cats who we couldn't tell apart.

As a kid I had a cat name Phoebe, which I didn't realize was ironic until I grew up....a cat named after a bird! I also once had a fish named Cliff Fluffy Flash Gorton.

Tosca - It is the name of an opera. Makes me sound intelligent, doesn't it? Reality - it was a the name a street we passed on the way back from the pound. Someone had to tell me it was the of an opera!

Ara (as in Parseghian); Leahy (as in Frank Leahy); and Sorin (as in Father Sorin). Can you tell who we're rooting for on football Saturdays?

My poor Siberian Husky is stuck with the name Nikki like 7 out of 10 huskies you meet. My favorite pet name ever was a friends cat named Pita for "pain in the a@@"

The sweetpea named her dog Harrison Ford. Not sure how unique that is, buts its different than our other pets.

My dog's name is Ludwig, we call him Lud or Luddie alot. He's a miniature schnauzer, a german dog. We got online and looked up german names! I love my Luddie Buddy Boy! :dog2:

My Japanese Akita was named "Akiko" which is really a common girl's name in Japan. Our Standard Poodle is named "Darci", which is a female derivation of D'Arcy which is French. "Darci" is also Irish and our pup was born on the same day as Chicago's Southside Saint Patrick's Day parade.

We have a Mixed Great Pyrenesse named Poisin Ivy we Call her Ivy. My son loves the Bat MAn movie with Poison Ivy

We have two mini dachshunds - Phoebe & Gretchen

My daughters named Phoebe by giving me a choice of all the female Friends characters - I chose Phoebe over Rachel or Monica. The funny thing is that they call her Bert for some reason - It started by them saying Phebert then became Bert. I still call her Phoebe!

Gretchen is a rescue dog that came to our house at 3 yrs old, already named. I didn't have the heart to mess with her any more but I would have named her Lessa after a character in a book that I like. Next dog!

Our Chocolate Labs registered name was "Shot of Sambvcas Little Coffee Bean" We called her Sam

We have a blue merle collie named Linus. His name was Lance but when we adopted him we changed it because Lance just did not suit him. It sounded like such a regal, composed name and Linus was more of a laying-on-the-kitchen-floor type of buddy. He always looks like he's pondering great philosophical questions while he lays there, too. ;)

Our little JackRussell got his name by my 2 year old, who is now 4...We had a JackRussell named Toby and my Soon to ex :cool1: went and traded to a pup who was Toby's son.....so hence he got the name, Tobyson :goodvibes
