Unique Dog Names....

We met a rescued greyhound at the puppy park and her name was Cleopatra! I think those are great names for the breed! You family (2 legged & four legged are adorable!)

Thank you makinorlando, I fell in love with those dogs, if I get a female, one day, I will call her Cleopatra or Isis, ha! ha!

We've had Jazz (after hubby's favorite music), Disney (after my favorite place) and currently have Drummer (after husband's hobby).

A friend's neighbor's dog is name Deeohgee (pronounced DEE-OH-GEE), which is exactly how you spell D-O-G..

Well, that ruins my story. LOL

I have a friend who had a dog when he was a kid and that was his dogs name too.

My dogs have all had 'people' names
(I have heard of people named Pepper, but it's not as common as the others)
Charlie
Pepper
Nikki
Lacy
Ginger
Hunter
Cara <- our current dog - a very noisy beagle, but still my Sweet Caroline (registered name)

ex-hubby had a cat he named Pooter (and, no, he wasn't a gassy cat - I don't know why he named him that)
My cats were
Puff
Simon (a Siamese)
Mus (he liked music - play on mews and music - had an umlat (sp?) over the u - I was in high school and though it terribly clever at the time)
Romeow (he was a lover - a stray I took in)
Tessa

We have a schnoodle (schnauzer poodle mix) named Baloo! We'll probably name our next dog Mowgli! (Dh's favorite movie is Jungle Book.)

We have a border collie/lab mix named Indy after Indiana Jones.
We think alike. We had a doberman who we named Indiana Jones. Got him in Indiana and loved the movie - "Indiana? We named the DOG Indiana!!!" (we called him Indy for short)

I also had 2 silky terriers - Yoda (big ears) and Gizmo (furry).

Scooby Doo xx10 is our current doberman. The kids came up with "Scooby Doo" and tried to stick to a "movie" theme, "xx10" because we shoot competitive indoor archery and xx10 is a near perfect score.

Our cat is "Nike" - yes, like the shoe brand. We also had a "Reebok" that was a stray.

Not an uncommon name, but...
we just lost our cat, Lucky. Lucky was a little kitten who was dropped off before he was weaned. At first we tried to ignore him (we live in the country and unfortunately get lots of drop offs along our road). Well, he made it to our house (lucky event #1) and then we decided to adopt him (lucky event #2). We named him "blackie" and took care of him. Well, a few months later, he had climbed on to my husbands truck engine and got pretty chewed up when he went to start it. We found him under our front porch and thought he was dead. Later in the day, I went to scoop in up and he moved!!! He was alive (lucky #3). It was a Friday night, no vet open. We nursed him through the weekend (lucky #4) and took him to the vet on Monday, planning to have him put to sleep. Took pity on him (lucky #5) and said to try to save him with reasonable cost. The bill was over $200 in the end!!!!! He survived the ordeal, but we decided to change his name to Lucky. It suited.

I love this thread...so funny...
My dad had a siberian husky/wolf mix that we named Montana.
My aunt has a prissy little lap dog named Fergie and my other aunt has 2 huge white Great Pyranese sisters that are named Tasha and Meesha.

My aunt comes up with some funny names. She used to own Diet Centers and had a dog named Tofu... :rotfl2:
I have always wanted a tiny little white dog named Fifi... :cloud9:

We love dobermans and movie names, would love to have "Darth" or "Vader" be the name of our next doberman. My DS10 will LOVE that!!!!

The comedian Steven Wright says that when he was a boy he had a dog and he named him STAY, the only problem is that when he used to call him it always confused the poor thing:
"come here, Stay"
"come here, Stay"
The poor dog never did know what to do! :rotfl2:

We named our dog is a Siberian Husky and we named her:
Aurora (after the town Aurora, Colorado)

Even more unique is our cat's names:
Rat (she's a very small grey tabby)
Mouse (DD5 named her cat that when she got her a few years ago. The cat is all grey but the very tip of his tail is white, cute but very ornery!)

Reading these reminded me of more....one Christmas Santa brought our neighbors two puppies, named Holly and Noel. I thought that was so cute.

My in-laws had a kitty that was the product of too much inbreeding(farm cat). His ears were on the side of his head and he walked sideways. His name was Yoda :rotfl: Poor thing sat in a puddle too long one winter and froze down!! He wasn't as bright as Yoda, but he sure had the look!

Katy :sunny:

We have a new cocker spaniel puppy....Bibbidi Bobbidi Bella...we call her Bella for short!

We have a female shepard mix named Oliver.

It's a really long story...but let's just say when you pick up a puppy from animal rescue you should not believe the papers and wait weeks before you turn it over.

We have two dogs. A black lab named Dagny, after a character in the book Atlas Shrugged. And a spotted terrier mix, that the kids named Ladybug.

I have a yellow Lab named Lager and a Chocolate one named Porter (they are in my avatar). If I ever get a black one, he will be named Stout!

We used to have a Golden lab name Snoopy ( actually my brother named her Snoop doggy dog ) but she became snoopy.

We now have a Chocolate lab my DH and I and his name is Uncle Remus. But we call him Remus..

I almost forgot, my childhood dog was a Chow mix, and his name was Frog.

My dad and I watched McGyver together every week, and there was a dog on there that was named Frog and I thought it was the coolest name for a dog, so the next dog we got, was blessed with the name Frog.

My 3yr old golden retriever is named Keeper. She is the sweetest natured little girl imaginable. Turns out her name is very appropriate - we had her only a few months when we discovered she has multiple medical problems and a few people questioned what we were going to do....but she is family and she is a KEEPER.
