Unique Dog Names....

When I was young and in grade school my best friend had a dog he had named "Dee o Gee" - DOG, so when I had got a cat I had to name it "Cee a Tee" - CAT.

Matt'sMom- I like "Plunder" For any pirate puppies out there.

Plunder's AKC registered name is actually "Marauder's Loot". And yes, there are lots of Pirate themed names among his relatives and offspring, including:

Calico Jack, Gold Doubloon, Buccaneer, Flint, Ben Gunn, Jolly Roger... and of course Capt'n Jack.


Given the populatrity of the POC movies, I am certain there are lots more dog's being named after pirates these days.

We rescued a Greyhound 3 years ago, and we named him Pharaoh, he is very docile and quite a beautiful dog. The breed goes back to ancient Egypt, so I thought it was a perfect name for him...

We met a rescued greyhound at the puppy park and her name was Cleopatra! I think those are great names for the breed! You family (2 legged & four legged are adorable!)

We had an american eskimo spitz whose name was Absolut (like the liquor) we called her Abby for short.

My DS has a friend whose Dad named their dog DamnIt. They have a day at church each year where you can bring your dog in to be blessed by the priest. The priest asked the dogs name when DS's friend got to the front of line and he couldn't help but laugh the whole time that he was blessing this dog.

I worked for a vet when I was in high school & college. There was a Siamese cat named Damnit as well. The owner said they were waiting to name him until they found a name that fit him. As a kitten he was constantly knocking over drinks, tearing up things and they were saying damnit so much that the cat started responding to it.

Our dogs name is Annabelle. Our kids loved the movie Annabelle's Wish at the time, also DD loved Belle at the time (she 6-1/2 now and getting over the Princesses now , that's another thread though).

I always wished we had named her Nala, even though she's a dog, she has always reminded me of Nala from The Lion King.

Our yellow lab is named Samson. My sisters yellow lab pup is named Bam Bam and her springer spaniel is named Stitch.

We rescued a cocker spaniel about 8 years ago and her name is Bonnie, nothing out there.

Growing up I did have a German Sheppard names Kinzer! Named after Steve Kinzer, a sprint car driver - My brother did that!!!!

We have two flat-coated retreivers (pure black) one is named Indigo, the other is Savannah and we have a golden retreiver named Emma. Of course we have cats too and they are Sam, Charley, Boo and Tink!

Well our current boys are Dodger - Aussie/ Husky mix he looks just like Dodger in Oliver and Co. . And Kixx - Boarder mix DD named him after one of the experiments in Lilo and Stitch.

We just got an Australian Cattle Dog. Her name is Zoe. However, my father hopes that every child born will be named after him. It has become a running joke with the family. His name is Loye, which is not real popular. So we decided that our stubborn little girl will be registered as Zoe Loye since she takes after her grandpa. Hee Hee. He thinks it is really cool

Our muttly-pup (looks terrier-ish) is named Gretchen. She is the sweetest little thing...

Our Beagle is Scout. Not unique, but we love it and I was just happy when all 3 DSs agreed on a name!

Growing up a friend had two Pekeneese(?) dogs named Teddy and Peaches, I always loved those names!

We live on a cul-de-sac street with many dogs, here are their names...

Wow there are some cute and silly names out there!

My Newfie girl is named Tatum. Nothing crazy or too creative, I guess. We call her "Tater Tot" or "Sweet Potater" usually. She's our wonderpet.

Our Dreat Dane's name is Xena, although she thinks her name is "stupid dog."

In the past I have had dogs named Ziggy, Stardust. and cats named Spiders and Mars, also had a dog named Major and a cat named Tom. ( some of you will get where those names came from)

Our first family dog's name was Fruppie, the previous owners son couldn't say puppie. When it came out it sounded like Fruppie. My current dog's name is Bochephus, after Hank Williams Jr(my own idea before I even had him). My sister named her dog Riggs after Mel Gibson's character in Lethal Weapon.
By the way I have had "BO" since he was 6 weeks old and he just turned 16 on August 17th. He is a miniature dachshund and so far he is still doing very well.
