Ok. We travel to FW the week before Christmas with my sister and her family (we leave by the 19th or 20th). We are a family of 4- 2 adults, 2 kids and my DS has autism. He is the main reason we choose to camp. He likes to decompress in "his" surroundings. We have stayed at many onsite hotels, camping is much better for him.
My sister's family is a family of 7- 2 adults, 5 kids ages 11, 6, 6, 5, 4. They have always camped mainly because there is no other way for them to travel (they drive their motor home from WV). They can't do 2 rooms, because the kids aren't really old enough and flying would just be crazy expensive for 7 people. So they only vacation in their MH. Their DS (one of the twins) is also autistic. He also does SO much better in familiar surroundings.
Last year we both received several PIN codes and tried to apply them to FW, but they were never available to the campsites.
After we returned from our trip last year we both received surveys from Fort Wilderness. I filled out mine and never heard anything. My sister filled out hers and complained that she feels like she is being punished for having a large family, since staying at the campsites means we can't get any kind of discount and Disney-size rooms can't work for them. She also explained how the camping in our own RV works better for our autistic children. She actually got a call back from Disney to explain her comments and ask for her feedback/suggestions on the situation. The lady also gave her number and extension and told my sister to call back after we had booked our vacations for this year and had confirmation numbers and our GG number and she would "see what she could do" to get us a discount.
We have both booked and have our GG #, my sister is trying to reach her but she was out last week- hope to catch her this week!
I was just wondering if anyone had experience anything similar? We are going regardless of discount, but it sure would be nice!
Thanks!
JE
