Unfortunately, my family STILL thinks I'm crazy..a double PTR. *6/6-Beating the heat?

Eeeek! So close! Can't wait to hear your next update!!! And looking forward to that single digit dance! :woohoo:

Have you ever noticed the DISers are amazing dancers?

We were so busy this weekend that I missed doing the single digit dance on here Saturday so here it is now: :banana:!

Haha, I love this shirt! :thumbsup2 I actually got it before our last trip and found it amazing that only 2 CMs "got it" the entire day I wore it. The CM at the FP line on RnRC asked me if I got my flippie floppies, and a CM in Epcot smiled and laughed knowingly. Then an older CM at a gift shop in Epcot asked me about, so I told her she could just type it in Youtube...but not at work. She was like, "Oh, viral, huh?" :laughing:

Have fun in a week!

Yes, I remembered seeing the shirt on Joyce's TR! I'm interested to see if anyone will "get" it while we're there. I'll let ya know!

After today, I have 3 days of school left (I have a teacher workday on Saturday :sad:) and....

....5 days til Disney! party:

I can see the first part of our trip on the Weather Channel's 10 day forcast. It looks like this:

Mon Jun 11

I'm not too crazy about the higher chance for rain on Thursday and Friday, but there's still plenty of time for that to change! And if not, the ponchos are already packed!

One thing's for sure--it's going to be HOT, HOT, HOT while we're there! :beach:

So--what are your favorite ways to beat the heat??

I know I am late. I just read all of your updates. Your children are beautiful and I can totally relate to having the dramatic daughter. I have a friend from college who has 2 daughters and one day he posted on facebook: "Little girls have more drama than TNT". You know the station with the slogan: We Know Drama. :lmao: All of our friends with daughters started commenting on it.

Oh as she gets older you won't get bored. Mine is 9 now and sweet and sugar and just as loving, but got a diva gene from somewhere. I have to laugh. She's also very creative and an amazing big sister. My son is also my snuggle bear and I can relate to your heart ache. He’s only 2, but it seems like it went by so fast. Even my daughter sighs thinking about when he was smaller. On the other hand, we do travel much lighter. Your son on his first trip reminded me so much of my son on our first trip. :lovestruc

We are headed down for our next trip on the 21st, just a few days after you return from yours. We are beyond excited. Well, dd and I are. My son has no idea anything is going on because no suitcases have come out yet. He’s well-traveled enough to know what that means though. He is completely obsessed with The Mouse though and we are more than ready for some time away.

Our first trip to WDW was a surprise for my dd and I also did a surprise short trip to Sea World, so I understand how much work that is. Thankfully I have a walk-in closet that allowed me to pack without her knowing. This time she’s been in on it from the beginning. And funny, it’s been me asking her each day how much longer instead of the other way around.

For the heat, we’ll use sunscreen, wear light colored cotton clothing, have misting fans, drink a lot of water, wear various hats, the children have sunglasses ( I wear eye glasses) and we’ll take frequent breaks to find shade and/or AC. We’ll also do most of our touring in the mornings into the afternoon, then either take a break and return for the evening (2 different days) or end touring at 2 or 3 and spend the rest of the evening at the resort (4 different days). On our arrival day, we’re touring in the evening only. We are not commando by any stretch of the imagination. We are probably the exact opposite. But it allows us to stay rested.

I hope you all have a wonderful trip.

What kind of single digit dance is that??? :eek:

C'mon, let's PARTY! You have 5 days!!!! :yay:

:banana::banana::banana:
:dance3::dance3::dance3:
:dancer::dancer::dancer:
party:party:party:

And you have to have a live band while you dance!
:rockband::rockband:

Fingers are crossed that you'll have clear skies and amazing weather!!! :wizard:

When it's hot out, we tend to stick to the indoor attractions, no matter how lame they are. :lmao:

Story: DH actually asked to ride IASW one year. He actually stopped and insisted we were riding. The entire day I was thinking my Disney-hating DH was coming around ... turns out, he was hot and wanted an indoor attraction and it was the closest thing. :rotfl2:

Thanks for reading! We are like you and definitely not park commandos (although I admit that I would like to be!), so we will definitely be using the mid-day break. My problem is getting them back in the parks after the break! :laughing: But, like you, I've planned a couple of nights at the resort, so hopefully the others I can drag them back into the parks!

I know, it was a LAME single digit dance, wasn't it?

School has been so stressful this week--the kids don't want to be there, I don't want to be there. You get the idea. It's really put a buzz kill on my dancing. ;) In fact, if it weren't for the Disney light at the end of the school tunnel, I don't know how I would be making it through to the end!

Only a 1/2 day left with the kids tomorrow! :woohoo:

So--what are your favorite ways to beat the heat??

I wouldn't mind the "scattered thunderstorms". In MA, that would mean a dreary rainy day. In FL, that means that it will be beautiful for an hour, downpour for 10 minutes, be beautiful for a few hours, downpour...repeat...As long as you're not caught on a long uncovered stretch during the rain, you're set! :laughing:

To beat the heat, Joyce and I drink beer, but you probably knew that already :goodvibes Other than that, it's pretty much knowing the cold spots.

The bathroom in Germany might be the coldest place in WDW! In Epcot, our other standbys are Rose & Crown and the pyramid (La Cava Tequila!). Joyce likes the Grey Goose Slush in France, but I'm not a fan--just make sure you take it inside instead of standing out there and baking :rolleyes1.

In MK, PhilharMagic, CoP, PotC, and HoP are all attractions in different parts of the park that have good indoor lines, or in the case of HoP, an area to wait and then NOT go on the attraction :rotfl:

In DHS you can go from store to store (internally) along the two main streets to avoid the sun on the sidewalk. We also love the 50sPTC bar. The Writer's Stop is also one of the few places to get an iced coffee in WDW.

AK is tougher, but there are some shady spots--it just always feels so humid there to me. There's a stand in India that has a great frozen chai, and KRR will get you soaked!

There's a stand in India that has a great frozen chai...

Scratch that...the land is technically "Asia", though it seems very "India" to me, but India is part of Asia anyway...rambling...over-thinking...

Anyway, I looked it up and it's the Anandapur Ice Cream Truck near EE. :goodvibes

Yeah, I’ve read a lot on here where families planned to get back to the park and never made it. I’m not much different. Truth be told, my confidence in getting dd back to the park after a break is not very high, so I only put it down for 2 days and scheduled some things that should motivate her. One is the day of her 4:00 BBB appointment and dinner in the castle, so I figure that will be motivation enough to get her back out. I made an afternoon appointment because I know she’ll only want to be in that dress for so long, but the hair should survive the night, so I also got her a sun dress and scheduled Akershus for the next morning to get more out of her “princess look”. On the other we are doing the Living Seas Pavilion when we go back out. That was her favorite part of Epcot last time and I know she won’t want to miss it. If she surprises me and wants to go back out on some of the other days, that'll be gravy.

Here’s hoping our weather cooperates. I hope it’s back to the normal brief daily showers soon.

I've been such a slacker on the Dis lately and missed a bunch of updates here and the start of your new TR.:guilty:

Your trip is sooooo close. I had to go back and look where you are staying for this trip. I couldn't remember if you were staying at AKL or not again. :banana: for a new resort.

Congrats on the new camera! How is it working out so far? I am thinking of getting the same on before our Sept trip but not sure if I feel like carrying it around. Maybe I would be better off getting a better point and shoot. :confused3

Oh so close!!

Hmmm I guess my favourite way to beat the heat is to do rides with indoor queues that are all indoors and preferrably seated. Ellen is my favourite. 45 minutes off my feet in nice cold AC? Yes please!
