Unexplained bruising?

Over the past two days, I have developed some serious bruising on my legs and my abdomen. I just went to the doctors last week for a sore throat and this was not here when I saw her. I don't have strep so we think the sore throat is either allergies or a virus but I have no other symptoms.

I probably have like 2 dozen bruises on my legs and abdomen that seemed to have just shown up. I can't figure out any explanation for them. I do bruise easily but usually it is only one or two bruises and I usually know how they happened. I did just have labwork done (Full CBC w/diff, CMP and Liver function) and it all came back normal. I am going to see one of my doctors on friday (she is my allergist/immunologist and infectious disease doctor) so I plan on mentioning it to her.

But I was wondering if anyone has had this type of thing happen before.

It could be something as simple as low iron or as complicated as leukemia

You should call your doctor. My son had the same issue when he was one and was diagnosed with ITP (Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura). A friend was diagnosed last year with the same thing. It is a low platelet count which causes the bruising and for my son it included internal bleeding. There are a few ways to treat it, but usually steroids all are that is needed. ITP often occurs after illnesses. In my son's case it was the result of his MMR shot.

I am not saying this is what it is, just that this is my experience. The sooner you go to the doctor the sooner you can figure out what is going on.
