Underwhelming restaurants?

Hey all,
So we are hoping to branch out this trip and try some new restaurants. But instead of getting everyone's favorites, I thought it would be fun to start a discussion on which restaurants you HAVEN'T liked. Or maybe not haven't liked, but perhaps just found underwhelming.
I'll start with a few I havent's enjoyed so much:
Lucky Fortune Cookery
River Belle Terrace
French Market

Of course feel free to chime in with your favorites as well! It just seems like the list of favorites is always much longer than the list of places to avoid!

I am not a fan of the Mexican place inside of DCA. I do love Lucky Fortune though. I just get my bowl without the veggies. Just the way I like it.

I didn't like Wine Country Trattoria at all. I had the World of Color menu (however I understand the regular menu has some great items on it). I thought the atmosphere was very cheap and DCA 1.0 (we ate inside). The service was s l o w. The food was passable but nothing exciting.

I also didn't like the mexican place in DCA. I also was not a fan of Hungry Bear a few years ago (though I've heard they've had positive changes recently). There are quite a few I won't try because they serve fried foods (like corn dogs) or primarily red meat (can't eat it). I have a much longer list of likes though!

The only place we truly didn't like was the counter service Yak Yeti at AK. The food was just awful. We were underwhelmed by breakfast at the Crystal Palace. The food was okay, and it's pretty, but we just found it boring.

I can name a few in DTD that I didn't like..ESPN Zone..we won't be back there again...We tried it twice and the food was mediocre and the service was awful. We are not fans of Rainforest Cafe either. I would go back again if my DD5 insisted, but the last 2 trips we had awful food. The all-time worst? Storytellers Cafe. We had the buffet ( ordering off the menu may be better) and it left us completely underwhelmed.
Our must do's are Riverbeller Terrace and Plaza Inn. We also like AG's lunch or dinner.:goodvibes

I, like others have listed, am not a fan of Rancho Del Zocolo. Some really like it and think the portions are great. I would rather eat Taco Bell. I also avoid the spots in Tomorrowland, not that they're horrible, I just prefer other places like Cafe Orleans, Hungry Bear and the Adventureland CS spots.

I also haven't had great experiences at French Market, now I just stick with Cafe Orleans if I want that type of food.

Lucky Fortune sounded so good, and then we ate it. The chicken was awful. Worse than on an airplane - back when they used to serve "food." :)

Storytellers has a great breakfast buffet but the dinner leaves a lot to be desired, especially for the price.

The parks really don't have any good food at all, IMO. Uva Bar and La Brea in DTD are my favorites for casual meals. Naples isn't bad either.

I guess my family is the oddball, we loved Cocinca Cucamonga, the Mexican counter service at DCA- we thought the citrus chicken was great. (Rancho Del Zocolo is the place in DL, not CA, right? We haven't tried that one). We hated Lucky Fortune so much that the food went in the garbage can-none of the 3 of us would eat it (the orange chicken). We also liked Hungry Bear (as far as burgers and chicken nuggets go). Wine Country Trattoria is one of my favorites. In fact, I prefer it to Blue Bayou as I have always found my food mediocre for the price over there (but I still go for the atmosphere!).

Really, the only place we have disliked at DLR and would not try again is Lucky Fortune.

The places you would expect to be good, but aren't:

Blue Bayou-sorry folks, the view doesn't help the food go down

Storytellers Cafe dinner buffet-way overpriced for the selection and quality

Lots of confusion about which park we are talking about inthis thread :). At DLR, I found Blue Bayou very disappointing-poor food and service, incredibly overpriced.

Not to hijack the thread, but is Blue Bayou completely inside the Pirates ride? When you start the ride, you can see it to your right, correct? I never understood how anyone could eat in the dark like that - how can you even see your food? Is there any outdoor seating or just inside the ride? I (almost) always hear such great reviews about it but the darkness turns me off.

You are correct.

I always wanted to go there since I was little because of the atmosphere. I just went for the first time in February and it was just okay. I was glad I did it, but I don't know if I would do it again, especially with kids. Also, and I am not sure if this has anything to do with anything, but I got food poisoning while at DLR in February. The only two places I ate was a pastry at Jolly Holiday while waiting for rope drop and Blue Bayou. I don't like to blame places when I don't know and the rest of my party did not get sick, but I had crab cakes for lunch. As most of you can imagine, food posioning and DLR don't mix. :scared:

There is only one place I would never go back to and that is Naples in DTD! Horrible food and even worse service!!!

I am not a huge fan of the Jazz Kitchen and Blue Bayou either, but I wouldn't not ever go there again!

My very favorites are Cafe Orleans and Tortilla Jo's!!!

The one place we won't eat again is Tortilla Joe's. I know a lot of people love it, so maybe we were there on an off day, but the food was horrible, the service was horrible and it was overpriced. We used to like ESPNZone, but it too is really overpriced and the quality of food seems to be going down.

In the parks, we tend to stick to our favorites.

I was just going to post Pizza Port in Tommorrowland (which I used to love but it sucked last time), but you reminded me of the most disapointing meal I've had at Disney. WCT...bleh. And overpriced for the very meh food. I can handle mediocre food from counter service, if I have to make a reservation and all that jazz I want it to be decent, and WCT was just boring.

Rancho is in DL, Cocina Cucamonga is in DCA, they aren't the same restaurant.....

Yes, it's completely inside. I've eaten there multiple times, your eyes adjust quickly and the lights on the tables are sufficient to see by. I've never had any problems eating or seeing my food at BB. There is no outdoor seating, just what you see from the ride.

Places I don't like~
Wine Country Tratatoria, but I have not eaten there since the menu changed.
Tortilla Joe's, eaten there twice and had "gastro issues" both times, DBF has had the same issues as me so we attribute it to TJ's per the timing.
You know...to be 100% honest, my list is really small. There are other places we tend to avoid but I wouldn't be against eating at them.......hmmmm

In CA Pacific Wharf dining area there is a corner shop with window service that sells beautiful cookies and pretzels. I bought one of the $6 cookies. It lacked much flavor, so IMO pass on this.

Also thumbs down, The Lucky Fortune Cookery... the chicken bowl that was hot was just real hot, not much else to taste there. I liked the edamame, though.

I think I got sick from DTD Tortilla Joes, but I can't exactly place blame there, but I pass that place up now.

I also pass at Rancho Del Zocalo, just not impressed with whatever I got a couple years ago.

I like the corn dogs from anywhere in the park so I tried a corn hot link (or whatever it was called) from the Corn Dog Castle one time. Not for me, not again. Too greasy and heavy for inside cornmeal batter I think.

edit: In light of all the negatives about Wine Country Tratatoria, I want to say that I liked the cheese and fruit platter and wine from the Mendocino Terrace at the Golden Vine Winery (at the entrance to Cars Land).

THis is the disneyland board...but besides that counter service ata Yak and Yeti is a must for us, we try to go once a trip. Love it!

I did not care for Goofy's kitchen much. It was okay but too pricey and the food was only so-so. Also didnt care for the pizza/italian place in downtown disney, our pasta was bland.

On the other hand, loved Blue Bayou can't wait to go back.
