I haven't heard that he's NOT still there...but just wanted you to know he's pretty far out. My 6 year old was exhausted by the time we found Mickey and I had to swim with him on my back on the way to shore (remember, it's much easier swimming out than it is swimming IN! LOL!!) I forget exactly where it is, but it's between two of the markers, I'm thinking between A & B. Just ask one of the lifeguards out there, he'll point you to the right spot!

Unfortunately he is gone. I spent about an hour and a half looking for him snorkeling a couple of weeks ago and could not find him. I asked two lifeguards(just to make sure) and they both said he was lost in the hurricane.

There was a really neat framed photo of him on the onboard auction and I wanted it but lost out.

We were on the same cruise as the above poster and we were told that Mickey was out getting repaired and that he would be back again soon.

My DH and DS9 braved VERY chilly water just to find that Mickey and were really disappointed when he was missing. :(

Hopefully he'll be back in time for your cruise in August. :flower:

I read somewhere (not here) that indeed the statue was out being repaired and not "lost"!!!

I was told in Nov by CC lifeguard that he was out be refurbished. Sorry to hear the lifeguards told you otherwise. Wish they would get their stories straight, b/c I'm sure they've been getting that question for months! :confused3

That makes sense. I wondered as it looked awfully heavy even for a hurricane to take out of water that deep.

MickeyMouseMom - our weather sure turned quickly on Castaway Cay didn't it. We went on the kayak trip in the morning and the weather was nice if not very windy but in the early afternoon it turned cold quickly. The beach became very empty very fast. We were some of the few to hold on to the bitter end. I am used to cold water swimming/surfing so didnt bug me that much but the majority beat it back to the boat.
