Any recommendations? I don't want to spend a ton of money, but I'd love to get some (fairly decent) water shots and pics while snorkeling.

We got the Nikon Coolpix S33 for our daughter for exactly that purpose. It works great. Easy to use. Separate buttons for photos and video. Both great quality.

Gopro! Amazing quality of video and wide lens for those family selfies underwater snorkelling! And then you can take stills from the video or your can even just take pictures.

I usually use the Cool Pix but now we have a GoPro so I am pretty sure we will use that. :)

Something to know about Cool Pix though is to bring LOTS of extra batteries. I found that I had to replace the batteries frequently when using it underwater.

Panasonic lumix has various price points from 150 to 300. Takes video and photos on SD card. Easy to use. Much cheaper than go pro.

I just bought an Olympus TG4 after seeing it recommended on a few different sites. Haven't tried it yet as our cruise isn't until July, but am hoping for good results!

we got the Nikon Coolpix AW130 camera with built in wi-fi off amazon last year for our February cruise. Actually takes pretty darn good underwater pics. DH used it at CC and zoomed in on fish etc. We didnt use the video part of it yet but trying that on our next cruise. The battery lasted the entire cruise. and we used it for out of water pics too. We did bring the charging cord just in case but never used it.

Re: Coolpix ....I must have an older model, because mine has AA batteries that I had to replace everyday. There was no charging cable to it or battery pack. :)
I still use it though and it does take good pictures underwater.

We have a GoPro (the newer one and an older one) and love it for the water. The camera itself isn't waterproof but a waterproof case comes standard with all GoPros. Lots of great photos snorkeling and playing in the pool. Plus you can get the chest strap and wear it on the Aquaduck!

We're going to purchase the "GeekPro", found on amazon. We're not one to purchase knockoffs, but this one seems to hold up well in comparison to a GoPro, and for the fraction of the cost. Look up Youtube reviews, and the Amazon reviews have some sample photo/videos as well. It comes with a ton of accessories too!

We use a Fuji XP200, waterproof to 50 ft, 2 meter drop shock proof, wifi, good size display, video, multishot burst mode, 16 MP, and takes a nice pic. Battery good for hundreds of photos and about 30 minutes of video, (the most I've ever done).

FujiXP80. Amazing pictures and video from underwater to above water and back underwater again with excellent color for prices around $150.

Does anyone have a GoPro Hero Session? I'm loving the size of it, as well as the (seeming) simplicity, but it looks like you have to use your phone at the same time which seems like a hassle. - this has prevented me from purchasing it.

After reading this, doing some research, and gathering information, I purchased an action camera. No, not a GoPro because I do appreciate having my arms and legs. I researched the off brands. I settled on the GitUp Git2 Pro. SJCam, GeekPro, Firefly, and a list of others were considered. These are all GoPro Hero4 equivalents for a fraction of the price. I received it yesterday, did some short videos in the house, outside, and in our pool. I was shocked at the quality and colors it produces. For $100, I was skeptical on what I would get. Turns out that it produces a great picture and video.

1. No, this will not replace the quality of my $3,000 DSLR setup. However, I would not risk that setup with an underwater case either.

2. With the cost savings vs a GoPro, I can purchase the other camera I want for travel and getting wet: Olympus TG-4. Yes, they do similar things, but the Olympus can take much better pictures. Plus I get the best of both worlds by having both cameras that are extremely small.

3. Here is a sample video. This was taken right after I received it in the mail. Everything on the camera was default. The day was completely cloudy and still had excellent quality and image clarity.
