Undercover tourist

The thing about these companies is that they are so big, they can afford to absorb the losses from credit card fraud...and they probably have their own security that can investigate and track down the thieves. UT is a (relatively) small business that sells high-dollar, high-value products. They really can't afford to absorb the losses. My guess is that they have seen an uptick in CC fraud?
Then again, couldn't they just deactivate the tickets? Maybe it's not that simple... :confused3
Right. They are just trying to prevent fraud. They aren't trying to steal your info, they are really trying to prevent someone else from using your info if it were stolen.
And yes, it will be to protect them more than you as they would be the ones out the money in the end but it would protect you too as it would be one more step to stop a thief from using your card.
Though I'm not sure how many thieves are out there planning trips to Disney.
Still, anyone who has issues with their request can contact them (they even read posts here and comment on occasion) and they are quite responsive. A few years ago there were some cases of their CS reps not being as helpful as they should be and if that were to happen they want to know about that too. Hopefully they've worked through and weeded out those agents but you know how that field can be at times, turnover is high.

ITA @AngiTN ! I meant to bring up the point that it is for consumer protection as well. Granted, it was a long time ago, but having been the victim of "old school" identity fraud (thieves who stole my purse and forged checks), I never mind when a place of business wants to verify my identity!
