I am planning on purchased our tickets for our upcoming trip from UT. But I have old non expiring tickets to combine with the new tickets. We are staying on site, will they combine for us all of our tickets that we have into one? (room key, old tickets, tickets from UT?) Thanks!

Actually you will do that yourself...
When you setup your my Disney experience account you can link all of your tickets into your MDE account. You will also link your resort ressies and dining ressies. Once you have those linked, you can order your magic bands and make your FP+ on line via your MDE account.
When you check into the resort, they will scan your magic bands to make the MB's your room keys.
Now your MB's will be your room key and have your park passes and dining reservations ..all in one.

Once you link your park passes to your MDE account(this would include your old park passes and your new ones) I believe you can select which passes you want to use first. By doing this you will avoid the problem I had back in Feb which entailed numerous e-mails and 4 phone calls with various cast members when the "system" used the wrong park passes from my MDE account.

Thank you so much! I think I get it...one more question...should we bring the old passes just in case? So the Underground Tourist tickets have no disadvantages?

You should probably bring the old passes just in case, but there are no disadvantages to buying tickets from UT vs. Disney.

My confusion is this though: the non expiring tickets that I have left over are park hoppers and the new tickets being purchased are non park hoppers. If I combine them onto the wristband how will it know which tickets I am using on a certain day? When we go, one day we may need the park hopper, the next day, the non park hopper. For this situation, is it best to keep the old tickets separate?

Since it sounds like you'll be mixing up your ticket usage (old ticket one day, new ticket the next, etc.) you'll want to keep them separate.

You don't want to try park hopping and find out all the days on your park hoppers have been used up on non-hopping days.

I think you can prioritize ticket use with MDE, but to switch back and forth like that, you definitely want to have separate tickets. The more complicated your situation is, the more likely that something will go wrong.

I'd keep the non-expiring separate (and convert them to RFID once you're to the parks if they're the old paper (Tyvek), non-plastic tickets).

In your case...I personally would bring both sets of tickets with me and then use the tickets (not the magic bands) to enter the parks. That way you can be sure which tickets you are using on which days.

I would still LINK them to MDE so you can book your FP+...I just wouldn't use the magicbands for park entry. You can then use the MBs for everything else (FP+, charging to the room, room entry, etc). That might be the easiest way to ensure there are no problems with which tickets are used on which days.
