i purchased e tickets, linked them to MDE but I'm not getting magic bands so I will have to get paper tickets. Do I need to print the e ticket or can I just show them my tickets on my phone?

This is from the Undercover Tourist FAQ page, about e-tickets:
I purchased a Disney E-Ticket. How do I go straight to the gate?

In order to go straight to the gate, you will need to link this E-Ticket in My Disney Experience and use a MagicBand.

If you are staying on site at the Walt Disney World® Resort, MagicBands will either be shipped to you for free or available for pickup upon check-in.

If you are staying off site, you can purchase MagicBands online ahead of time, at the Downtown Disney® Area or in the parks.

If you have not linked your E-Ticket to a MagicBand before you enter the park, you must exchange it at will call for a RFID-enabled ticket. Please allow 72 hours from when you place your order to exchange your ticket. The person whose name is on the order will need to be present to pick up tickets and may need to provide ID.

There are no longer any "paper" tickets issued at WDW.
All of the card tickets issued at WDW are plastic credit card types and have the internal RFID chip.

You need only provide the UT confirmation number (and a legal photo ID) to get the tickets issued at any WDW ticket booth or Guest Relations.

If those numbers can be seen on your phone screen, that will work.

I aways carry a photo ID with me at WDW,
It has saved me with ticket issues a number of times.

So as I read that FAQ - it appears that if you do have Magic Bands, and everything is showing up as linked in MDE - the e-tickets and the bands for each person - you don't need to pick up physical tickets at all, correct? Is there any advantage to picking up tickets anyway?

1. Correct.

2. As a "back-up."
(I'd just stop by a ticket booth or Guest Relations sometime early in the trip, when you have some extra time.)

Thank you. Just wanted to make sure I don't have to add an extra 20-30 min to first day Rope Drop. The kids would love that.
