My friend asked me about ID for her 13 year old daughter. They're flying to NYC. Although I haven't flown with anyone under 18 in a long time, I told her that I didn't think ID was required since she would be with her child. I did tell her that she might want to take a copy of her daughter's birth certificate with her just in case (although this child doesn't look anywhere near 18).

Anybody with recent experience care to share? Thanks!

She won't need it. My DD15 flew last weekend alone, they never asked for her ID. Once in maybe 10 round trip flights during the past year (with and without me) has anyone asked for her ID, and once she states her age, they say never mind.

Thanks, that's what I figured. I doubt anybody would even ask this girl her age. She definitely doesn't look any older than the 13 that she is. I'll tell her mom! :thumbsup2
