We finally bit the bullet and are under contract to purchase points at BLT closing in November. The seller cannot close sooner. We have put down a deposit and have signed all the papers.
My question lies with my annual pass. It expires in September. We are going down on vacation in September and plan to renew our AP'sas we will need it for ticketsa however I know that as a DVC owner the fee to do that is much lower. Will disney honor the dvc renewal price as I have already put a deposit down and am legally bound to purchase under contract or am i going to have to pay the regular price to renew my AP?

Has anyone had any experience with this or any suggestions of whom I should talk to? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't really know a definitive answer to your question, however, logically since the seller cannot close until November (I'm assuming it is a resale for that reason) would indicate to me that the seller has a vacation booked themselves sometime between now and November....which would mean whether you have a contract to buy or not....the seller is still the owner of said contract until November and for your vacation in September you are not yet a DVC owner and therefore would not qualify for the DVC discount at that time. If you know you will be visiting WDW for at least 10 days (which I believe is the breakeven point) during the year after your purchase (11/11 thru 11/12) you might want to bite the bullet for the Sept trip and not purchase an AP until after your closing in November.....or better yet, wait to purchase the AP until your first trip as a DVC member depending when that is.....we've been DVC members since 2001 and we usually don't purchase/renew an AP every year, but, look at when our trips will be (we are there at least twice a year, sometimes three times) and really make the AP worthwhile and make the most use of it....so some years we get one and some years we don't, but, just buy regular Park Hoppers from Undercover Tourist.....I also don't bother with non-expiration tickets anymore.....I just don't find the extra cost justifiable.

No, Disney will not give you the DVC AP price until you are a DVC owner, and you won't be a DVC owner in their minds until you have closed and are "in the system."

Your best bet is to buy just the tickets you need and then buy a new DVC AP whenever you visit next. That will still be less than the regular renewal price.

Thanks for your input. See the other question to this is if we wait to renew our AP when we go back to disney after we are owners, are we then renewing them or at that point since its been so much time, are we buying new AP's which would then cost more? confusing eh??

So then we would need to buy a new AP rather than renew? I guess I need to look up AP renewal prices as well as AP prices once we are a DVC owner. How long can the renewal go without being renewed? In other words say we dont renew in Sept. If we complete our sale in Nov is that too late to renew an AP or do we now need to buy new AP's since its different since we are DV owners?

I'd recommend looking at the price of just purchasing tickets in Sept vs. buying new DVC discounted AP's on your next visit vs renewing your current AP's this Sept at the full renewal price. A lot will depend on when you have trips planned next year. I think you have up to 30 days to renew your AP although now and then you run across a CM that might do it past that date but I the most I'd count on is purchasing a new AP. And of course the renewal back dates to the date your previous pass expired so again a lot will depend on trips you have planned after you close on your purchase in Nov.

You can renew up to 30 days after your current pass expires and still get the renewal rate.

If you renew regardless erg AP or DVC AP, it will start the day the last one expires....so, in Nov it would be a new DVC AP cost

Whenever we purchase an AP with the DVC discount or renew one with the DVC discount, you have to show your DVC member card. If you aren't in Disney's system yet, you won't have one to show the CM in guest services to prove that you are a DVC member.
