We have the dining plan for our upcoming trip and after reading other threads, I am finding out that our 2 year old son will have to pay for his counter service meals and snacks. Is this correct? I was under the impression that his meals would be the same as ours (1 sit down, 1 counter service, and 1 snack)

Can anyone with young kids that have used this plan fill me in on how it works for kids under 3?

If you order your child a meal, you will have to pay for it. If he eats off of your plates or you are at a buffet/family style, he eats for free.

Unfortunately a few of us with under 3 yr old kids were misinformed! I have a 2.5 yr old dd and we were originally told she would get the same meals as us - we thought wow, what a great bargain! But after reading on here that that wasn't true, I asked the travel agent and this is what her response was,
"Under 3 dine for free on buffets and may share a plate with a paying adult, but if you wish to order her an actual meal you will need to pay for it. We had some meal vouchers we used when my son was 2 ½ (similar to the meal plan you have) and there was plenty of food to share with him. Between that and buffets I found I did not have to purchase much for him to eat. There were a few times where we did purchase an additional kids meal though. "

We are debating on adding her on and just paying the money upfront. That would make it easier to order counter service for breakfast for 2 and split it, then do the same at lunch. Kinda frustrating that they don't even give you the OPTION of buying for the under 3 kid, yet the description says under 3 is free. Confusing!!

We used the plan with our family of four and I can assure you you get a huge amount of food! I can't imagine you'd have any difficulty feeding a 2yr old off your plates. :)

Thanks for the info! I thought he would just get his own meal like the rest of us. It's nice to know ahead that we need to budget for him too....but you're right...he should be able to share with the three of us.

I guess I can't complain...since he's free anyway :)

I don't think you can do this- since the dining add-on is tied to the package, and you aren't getting park tix for your under-three year old, you probably can't add the dining plan for him without confusion. You will probably end up spending less than $10 per day for a two year old, anyway. Most kids' meals cost around $5, and I can't imagine you'd need to purchase more than one per day.
