Under 3 on DDP - questions!

The rule is that children UNDER 3 do not need park admission and are free at the buffets. Once a child reaches 3, park tickets (MNSSHP in your case) and the buffett will incur a charge. My son is now 3 and we have to pay for him. I know how it can add up. ;)

we booked our dvc for Setp they told us to not worry about adding her so we would be able to get a room for 4. SO I know I can not add her on to the dining but how do I do my dining for 1900 park fare and Mickey's backyard BBQ? I'll have 4 on the dining and 1 not....

The number on dining reservations is not tied to the dining plan. You could have 10 people on your dining reservation if you wanted. You can also have ddp people and non-ddp people on the same reservation, just let the server know when you get there who is on the plan and who isnt.

You will have a total of 5 for all dining reservations. The same way you would if your child was an infant, they still need the count for dining reservation seating.

Just pay OOP. They'll split the bill for you.

I will just use her credit for breakfast - it is not a problem as her other 2 meals will cover the cost of the plan.

I don't want to increase her age with Disney however I will if I have to as I want her to have the DP but don't understand why they won't let DVC members pay for the dining plan for a 2 year old. She will only be 2 weeks away from her 3rd birthday.

Normally the DP's don't work for us however because of the restaurants we are eating at (one doesn't take TIW) and the timing of the meals getting the DxDp for one night will save us money.

When our oldest son was 2 he was a huge eater (still is) and we paid for the Dining plan for him. We didn't change his age, just told them that we wanted to add a child's dining plan and the reason and they had no problem with it. This does not require you to purchase a park ticket for him.

But, as others have suggested, if you are going to visit a lot of buffets your child would be free anyway and could get her own plate. The cost of paying for dining plan may not be worth it. It would depend on where you plan to eat. Paying for 2 child's meals per day OOP would probably come out to about the same as the dining plan cost, so if many of your TS meals were buffets you will not save money buying the plan.

I agree that if you buy the plan then yes, they will subtract a credit for her buffet even if she would have otherwise been free. But I don't know why this would matter, really. Its not as if that child credit can be used for anything else, unless your daughter would eat more meals than you do.

she can still eat for free at the buffet. Just because your card will say 2A1C, doesn't mean she's that child. She could be the unlisted infant and the child listed not with you at the moment (people do split up, esp when traveling with g-parents).

Simply let the server know she is 2 at the buffet.

Did you book a studio or one bedroom? If you booked the one bedroom, as long as it wasn't an AKV Value one bedroom, you should be okay adding her to the villa if you used DVC points. BUT, if you booked on cash through Disney, they won't let you add her. If you booked a studio, you need to rebook into a one bedroom villa.

You'll have to book something larger if you want to get her the DDP. And, really, she should be on the reservation and, if she is three when you arrive, you should pay for the dining plan for her. That's Disney's rules. Everyone must be registered into the room and everyone on the reservation (except for children under the age of three) must have the same dining plan.

A child who is three years old or older at the time you check in will be charged for a buffet.

If you go through the trouble of listing your 2 year old as 3 so the kid can get dining credits, why would you not use the child's credit for the buffet? What would the parents do with a leftover child's table service credit? You really can't use that for anything but children's meals.

I want her to have the DP but don't understand why they won't let DVC members pay for the dining plan for a 2 year old.

It's not just DVC members. Nobody can pay for a 2 year old to have DDP or for a 9 year old to have adult DDP. There's no way to do this without changing the child's age on the reservation.

We considered doing this, but decided against it based on where we got our ADRs. As to what we would've done with the extra kids TS credits? We'd eat at Beaches N Cream or The Plaza, use the extra kids credits for some of the kids meals (we have 4 kids) and pay OOP for DH and I.
