Hi everyone... I'm having the semi- uncontrollable urge to jump in my car w my kids and drive to Disney. Thing is... I live in PA!!! Lol I've never driven from here and I am wondering if someone can either talk me out of it or give me some advice... How much does it cost do do something like that? I know it takes forever...

LOL. I've got an AP and I know what you mean. Sometimes I just want to get in the SUV and go. Not the rest of my family though - they don't love disney like I do.

Would you need to stay someplace overnight? If so it would be the cost of your gas and the cost of an overnight hotel plus food.

Ugh I know it's killing me! I'm over a thousand miles away and my father was NOT a patient man (i got that wonderful trait too) so he would pay out the butt for a direct flight rather than drive- even back when has was like 80¢ a gal hahaha so I really k ow nothing about it. I figure $75-$100 for a holiday inn, twice, 2 days there, 2 days back... The more I think about it w my dd3&ds6 ugh... The Less "worth it" it seems... Might look into frontier airlines. Have heard good things... I still want to throw my stuff in the car n go right now. Lol But I know once I get to Delaware I'd be like "in an idiot" and turn around hahaha

That calculator is really helpful! We always - always - fly and I figured it was just the price I paid for convenience. But per the calculator, I arrive at WDW with 4h35m travel time, as opposed to 1d4h travel time, and it costs me a whopping $23.99 extra!! I feel so much less guilty now, lol!

Lol ... i know what you mean. I used it- great tool! I can fly frontier for $50 more than driving so I think I'm going to propose that to my hubby. I am trying to get him to take us for a 4 day stay to celebrate our sons birthday... I would LovE to surprise him w that as a birthday gift! :)

Sphinx,
I thought I may have posted this,m its been running through my mnd since the day school got out.

We've driven twice and if there is any other way to get there I would. By the time I hit Pa border I am already counting the miles and hours. I had AP last year and we did four trips, two drives.

I regretted the money that I put out for the second drive a year ago. Four trips in one year with AP was too much.
I m itchy to get my dgs down and started pricing with airfare, then went to Amtrak out of Phila which I think is an option especially with two kiddos. Someone else is driving, it's still an over night but the wheels are going while I am sleeping somewhat.

For four of us it was $800 AAA and child discount without a room. Is this an option?
Fall airfare is $270 each. I think will will wait until then to take the dgs instead of driving as soon as I could pack.

We have driven it a few times from NH. Def a longgg drive! The excitement of driving wears off by the 8th or 9th hour!

One time, we took drove to Lorton, VA, stayed overnight and took the autotrain the next day. That was more restful than driving all the way. Next time, hubby wants to try Amtrak from Boston and leave the car home..

Have fun however you decide to get there!
