Already?

I've decided to go to Target instead of Wal-Mart this morning and then on to other stores just to browse. Wal-Mart is a little too rowdy for my tastes today.

NO sale is worth dealing with that type of crowd.

My officers just got back in.

GUESS WHAT

The big bargain...the $278 notebook computer...they only had 30 for the whole store!

Going straight home and straight to bed....the news already has the mall parking situation on.... :confused3

Wal-Mart has always warned "while supplies last" as far as I've ever heard. People can act so strange.

This is why I am spending my day at home shopping online in my bathrobe! The only possible fights around here are from the kids over the leftover pie!

Good luck to everyone heading out today!!

Well at least they had 30 laptops to fight over, our store only had 10!:)

The reason I never go out. I'd be the first one to get my computer ripped from my arms. Then I'd cry like a baby and my weekend would be ruined!! ;)

Isn't that so sad that people would do such a thing?? And people wonder why others don't have the "holiday spirit!" I agree....no sale is worth that type of behavior.

I don't place the sole blame on the customers. Walmart, and stores like them, have 30 items in stock for a sale they know will be popular just to get people INTO the store and figuring once they are there they'll settle for another more expensive item. The "limited quatities" disclaimer may get them off the hook "legally" for bait & switch, but it is irresponsible retailing. Knowing that there were fights and injuries at a Wal-mart last year should leave them open to a neglience law suit for crowd control. They could have issued numbers to folks outside (1 to 30) for the laptops and avoided the melee.

I made the mistake of going to Kohl's for a few things... they have advertised all their specials so much that I finally felt I had to be there for the "early bird specials" (this means 10:30 am in my household, not 5!)
Parking lot is fine... store shopping is a little crowded, but THE CHECK OUT LINE WAIT WAS OVER 2 HOURS!!! WTH?
They only have about 6 cash registers.
I put my items back and left!

Someone should have thought this one out a little better... wouldn't surprise me if a fight does break out, but in the check out line!

I can't imagine getting into a fight over an item at a store. Just isn't worth getting a black eye, just to get a laptop or something.

I don't know if I even would have done that! :rolleyes1

Sorry....but that seems to be a huge lack of organization on their part. I've noticed that Kohl's doesn't have as many registers as other stores but They could set up additional kiosk's for the holiday rush. I bet that they lost quite a bit of business because people didn't want to wait in line. I wouldn't stand in line for 2 hours for much of anything - clearance or not! What good is their great doorbuster price if people don't stay to actually "purchase" the items? :confused3

 Grrrrrrr. Angry shopper. I also went to Kohl's and left my stuff because the lines were so long. I might have actually waited, but I actually had to get to work this morning. Grrrr!! I never work the day after Thanksgiving and this year was unable to get the whole day off.
Grrrrr. Angry librarian sitting in an empty Reference room.

You couldn't pay me enough to go shopping today. I have little patience for store crowds on normal days!

Myst

I want to thank everyone in Madison who went to Menards instead of the mall this morning. We got to the mall (Bergners, Sears, Dicks Sporting Goods) got what we needed and left with very little wait. However my dad wanted to stop off at Menards real quickly and we found out where everyone was at. Menards had huge door buster deals (DVD recorders $80, DVD players 18, personal DVD players $78, snow boards $10, etc) and my dad and myself went in to see one thing and the lines to check out went from the front to the middle of the store and must have been a 2 hour wait atleast. We looked at each other and left.

Thank goodness my shopping is all done and wrapped.

I went to our local (sad excuse) for a mall around 10 am. Just planning to hit Radio Shack & BonTon & Boscov. Radio Shack was so disorganized. About 6 "sales clerks" all trying to do everything. Greeter can't find tiem on page one of the sale flyer & hands me off to someone else. Since I had just walked in, I decided to look around. I was looking at ZipZaps - Buy 1, get 1 50% off & XMods - 50% off. Decide to fall for the manager's hard sell on the Xmods. Pick two out & find out that they are not included in the sale! ONly certain ones. :confused3 Wonderful, back to the ZipZaps. Looked at the DVD players for my grandma - can't show me the remote - she's 85 I want a remote that isn't microscopic! Fine, no sale there. Go back to register & pick up the bluetooth headset they are holding behind the counter. Shouldn't that have been a clue that I was ready to check out?????? Nope. 4 people behind the counter. 1 showing customer cell phones. 1 helping another customer. 1 on phone & 1 CLUELESS. I asked her if her register was open. Oh this doesn't work blah, blah blah. She walks out from behind the counter & pounces on a customer walking through the door. I finally get someone's attention & ask if he can ring me up. He acts surprised but is very helpful. Except that my second zipzap didn't ring 50% off. He said it was automatic & was included. (There was no price on the zipzap & it different models are different prices.) Then he askes Clueless to finish up the transaction as he goes to help someone else. I examine the reciept she hands me & politely ask her to show me where the 50% off was. It's on there. OK what was the original price on zipzap #2? Ask around to other clerks, manager checks - it's $12.95. Well, then I didn't get my 50% off. 3rd clerk voids the transaction but no credit card credit slip because "we don't process credit card transactions until the end of the day & the void sale will never even hit my card". Yeah right. I am watching for that one.

and thast why i shopped online this year :)

How did you get the big bargains on-line? I tried for Circuit City and Kmart and I couldn't order the hot sale items, I got messages saying only available in store.

I'm not surprised! Last year I was at Meijer and about 3 people knocked a pregnant woman down trying to get to $10 DVD players. Not sure if she was seriously hurt, but they called the Ambulance just in case.
