That's not teaching your children to obey out of love. That's teaching them to "obey" out of fear.

This is quite disturbing, and really give Christians a bad rap! I believe that a swat on the behind to get a child's attention is ok, but not a severe beating! I rarely spank my children because I feel there is a fine line I am walking there. They will get a swat if they aren't listening, but never an all out beating! A spanking is the only thing that will get my daughter's attention...I usually don't have to spank her twice for the same thing! And I CANNOT even begin to imagine spanking an infant for something they do naturally...cry! How else are they going to get your attention?
