Disney World Workers Among 22 Nabbed in Child-Sex Sting

A sting operation by Florida police has led to the arrest of 22 men who sought children online for sex, officials said Wednesday.

Dubbed operation “Be Mine,” detectives occupied a vacant house in the Orlando area and posed as children or the parents of children in online chat rooms.

When suspects solicited the officers, arrangements were made to meet at the home for sex acts, police said.

As the suspects arrived at the Clermont home, they were taken into custody, a news release from the Lake County, Fla., sheriff’s office said.

Three of the men arrested — Patrick Holgerson, 32, Joel Torres, 32, and Robert Kingsolver, 49, — were identified as Walt Disney World employees by police.

Marilyn Waters, a Disney spokeswoman, told NBC News Wednesday night that all of the men have been placed on unpaid leave pending the outcome of the charges.

Torres allegedly brought condoms with him to the home where he thought he would have sex with a 14-year-old, police said.

Alexander Vorobets, a 27-year-old employee of Rachel Strip Club in Orlando, brought a Happy Meal and condoms to meet a child of 13, according to the sheriff’s office.

Another suspect, Belal Shofique, 33, was identified by police as an Orange County paramedic.

Other suspects brought candy, necklaces and marijuana, police said.

Also arrested was 47-year-old David Griffith of Minneola, Fla., who told investigators he had recently made plans to have sex with a 7-year-old in another county, police said.

Officers tracked down emails between Griffith and the child's mother. After an investigation, the child was found. It was later learned the mother of the 7-year-old had sexually abused her, according to police. That case was still being investigated.

“It is somewhat discouraging, but I will tell you as long as those bad guys are out there trying to target our children here in this county we will continue to do these operations,” Lake County Sheriff Gary Borders told NBC station WESH in Orlando.

Creepy. Unfortunately if they had no previous record their is no way Disney could of known via a background check before offering these sicko's(I would love to use a bunch of other words here....) employment.

Sexual predators are potentially everywhere. The only way any employer, including Disney, would ever know is if the individual had been in trouble previously. Your next door neighbor - your child's teacher - your family doctor - your own family member - unless they've been caught, you would never know. I'm glad these people were caught, and I hope they are punished to the fullest extent the law allows.

Apparently this is far reaching. There were 2 men here locally that are in a domestic partnership that have been accused of taking their child and holding him captive and sexually torturing him. Part of the story is that they took the boy to Orlando on his birthday to meet other men that were found on the Internet for the purpose of child sex. It's really sad. The one guy thought it would be smart to let the news interview him, and you could really hear and see how sick he is. He couldnt understand why this was happening to him, and that the boy was happy and he got to spend his birthday riding Splash Mountain. I would be concerned that the people in Orlando that are luring these types are giving up some of their Cast Member passes as bait or payment to lure these types to their ring in Orlando.

I agree with everything because a few years ago, my husband came home from work, sat down at his PC across from mine, pulled up a newspaper article that hadn't been released yet and called me over to see who was arrested for a sex crime of a nine year old boy. I shouted out, "Oh my god! That's *name*!!!!" I started reading the entire article and it stated that *name's* next door neighbor was also being investigated. I looked at my husband and said, "NO!" The next door neighbor was a friend of ours who we socialized with outside of work (my husband and I both worked with him at different times). We were both floored. But men were arrested and we found out our friend was sentenced to 26 years in prison. Neither man had been arrested prior to this and we actually had been proud of them because they volunteered their time as Big Brothers. Yes, that's who the nine year old boy was to them. I felt incredible sick. I had even had this friend listed as a personal reference on my resume.

So it's just not at Disney World (although when I first read the headline, I thought the entire sex ring contained only Disney World employees). It could be someone you considered a friend.

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. And where those 3 were found and caught, there are probably more at Disney too.

Sexual offenders/predators are everywhere in this world and will seem like the every day average Joe. Even nicer.

The whole situation makes me sick. I think its irrelevant where they were employed but the fact that one was a paramedic makes me feel even worse about this all. I'm glad the sting was successful.
