Stroller for a big kid? I am afraid that even my 7 year old may need a ride occasionally, but she's 70lbs (not fat, just TALL). Are there any reasonably priced strollers (or one that will resell well) that will work for her and fold reasonably well?

The 4 year old is no problem, he's a featherweight, but something which reclines enough for him to start a nap in the stroller might be helpful ...

:worship:

I don't think there is an umbrella type stroller that goes up to 70lbs. The only stroller coming to mind is the Maclaren XLR which goes up to 65lbs. It's a fairly pricey stroller but should resell fairly easily for a good price.

She might be fine! My dd8 is only 52 pounds (but short - 51 inches), and last year, we took a 5 day vacation to DC, and walked miles (all the monuments in one day, the zoo, etc.). She totally kept up.

I hope so :cool2: She is a bit of a drama queen :rolleyes1 and I just want a happy, peaceful trip.

I think that I am going to pack my sling for the 4 year old and put him up on mine or DH's back when necessary (at 35 lbs, he probably won't kill us -- the other two were 25 lbs at a year and I carried them everywhere!). *He* is a trooper and probably doesn't really need a stroller. :rotfl:

Amazon has the Maclaren for a mere $360

I honestly wouldn't buy a stroller for a 7 year old. We brought a stroller for our youngest who was 2 and if he wanted to walk the 6 year old would hop in a few times. I think it was on the 4th day we went ahead a rented a park stroller for 2 days to give him a break. He didn't need one all the time but by the middle of the week he was glad for a break. I think even our oldest hopped in sometimes. You'd think he would be embarrassed to ride in a stroller but nope!!

I may do that ... rent a park double for our long days in MK ... don't think my 100lb 10 year old won't try to ride if he's tired :rotfl:

We were in the same predicament with our 7 year old....we thought we'd need a stroller to help keep his mood in the proper place given the heat in August when we go....we didn't want to buy a stroller JUST for Disney, as he's able to do day trips at home without them.....but Disney for a week is a whole different league than running to Hershey Park for the day....

We ended up renting a stroller (the city classic or something like that) from Orlandostrollerrentals.com It was a bit pricey for a week, but no worse than renting a stroller in the parks all week long....the city classic is rated to 75#....

FWIW, Shannon is wonderful to work with!!

We had the same concern for our 7 year old. I was afraid the August heat would be too much for him and he is also a kid who falls asleep as soon as a vehicle starts. He fell asleep almost every bus ride back to the resort. We were so glad to have a stroller so we wouldn't have to carry him in 95+ degree heat.

The brand we bought from chitchatbaby.com was something like chicco urban. It folded easily, had a carry strap and flipped open with one hand.
Our son was 62 pounds at the time and it handled his weight fine. It was a little trickier on uneven terrain, but the sidewalks were no problem. I think we paid around $60 for it and gate checked it on the plane for free.

I was wondering the same thing. My son will just have turned 6, and is about 63 lbs. and almost 4feet tall. I would really like to take the jogging stroller we got for him that goes up to 85lbs., but was wondering if there was limitations on the busses. I have been fretting over this, because I know he wouldn't last all day, and would forget he was in the happiest place on earth!!! I'd rent a stroller for the parks, but what about when he falls out on the bus ride back to the resort?
