I was wondering if anyone has noticed if Disney stills sells the red umbrella strollers in the gifts shops and if so what is the cost? We are traveling with friends that have children and trying to decide if is a better deal to bring a stroller, rent one or buy the umbrella.

They do! I was there last week and it is a Kolcraft model! They are $50. Kinda pricey for that, I would bring one if you have one. But if not, they did look decent, had a cupholder for parent and a hanging storage bag.

Keep in mind that the umbrella stroller that they sell is rated according to the kolcraft website at 35 lb maximum. If your friend has larger or older children, that option may or may not work.

Disney's rental prices are outrageous, so I wouldn't rely on that option either.
I rented before their prices almost doubled. Now, I refuse and always bring my own. I invested in two good maclarens that have made many trips to Florida. Definitely was worth the investment for me.

If bringing a stroller isn't an option, you could also look into renting from an offsite company. They are more reasonably priced and I believe they'll drop off at your hotel.

the walmart by our house has several models on clearance, might be it worth it to pick one up and even pass it on when you are done. we do that every year.

If you have a car (or a service that allows a shopping stop), Walmart sells the umbrella strollers for $12!

If your heart is set on a "Disney" themed stroller, Target sells a cheap "regular" stroller in Disney theme for $30 or so.

Disney does still sell the red and black umbrella stroller. I bought one a couple of weeks ago. I don't recall the exact price, but it was somewhere between $45 and $50.

How old are the kids? It's actually a decent stroller for little ones. It reclines enough for napping, but my DS3 will not be able to nap in it for much longer - his head was above the top of the stroller when it was reclined.

When our grandkids were coming over from England we bought strollers at yard sales for $1 each. When they left we sold them for the same price.

I agree! I thought about renting strollers, but quickly decided against that after checking the prices. I just wanted to have more room for our luggage because we drive a Nissan Maxima. I don't care if we are cramped up or not, I'm bringing ours!

Great idea on just buying a cheap umbrella stroller at walmart. Won't hurt if it gets lost or stolen too!

Just don't expect them to have any kind folding cover on the top to keep the sun off. Target has a pretty decent one for about $20-25 that has a cover. We used it a couple of weeks ago on a 3-mile walk for March of Dimes and used it at Aquatica last weekend.

But it might hurt your back ~ I'm not super tall 5'5.5" ~ but the *less expensive* umbrella strollers cause my lower back to ache after pushing one around for several hours. DD's Disney stroller is a Mac Volo ~ that was a great investment.

You can also purchase online and have it shipped to the resort.

I purchased a Perego Plinko P3 from www.albeebaby.com and they shipped it to Pop. You don't need any tools to assemble the stroller. It cost me a bit more for a new stroller than to rent for the 2 weeks at WDW. I have since used it for another 2 week trip and will use it again this year for another 2 weeks.

I figured I could purchase it and use it and then sell it and make back most of the money if I felt I wouldn't use it again.
