Umbrella Stroller or Regular?

I need some advice. We are coming for 5 days and we have a 14month old. We will be staying at Pop. Should we bring the regular stroller or umbrella? Help! It's our first trip, so we need some advice from experienced people.

Umbrella stroller. The regular strollers are very big and heavy, especially when you have to fold them up to get on the buses. I would recommend a stroller that has a cover. Also, get a stroller cover in case it rains. I got mine at Babies R Us.

I had a Chicco for both of my kids, you can use it up to 40 lbs and they are not that expensive about $70.00. It is cheaper than the Maclaran, but holds up very well.

I don't know. My youngest just turned 5 on our last trip and we brought the umbrella stroller for her. It was nice because it folded up easily and quickly and we carried it onto to the bus with no problem. I can't imagine having to lug a big stroller around. BUT, with a baby that will most likely take naps a regular stroller would be much better. Actually if you could pick up a very lightweight stroller, ya know, the ones that are just a little bit bigger than the umbrella strollers you would be good! Make sure it has a basket underneath, a canopy top and it reclines. That, I think would be the perfect Disney stroller. I had one of those for my dd when she was little, and it was just as easy to fold right up as the umbrella strollers.

I only ever used an umbrella stroller. Easier to maneuver, fold and carry. I would never want to deal with some of the monstrosities I see in the park ! I'm pretty sure they are bigger than my first car.

I never worried about reclining, babies are very flexible!

I would definitely recommend a "regular" type stroller versus an umbrella for one that little. Kids can sleep anywhere when they're tired I suppose, but the regular stroller really isn't a hassle on the busses. The only negative I can remember is getting too much stuff because we could throw it underneath I also think they're easier to shade little bodies from the sun by throwing a light blanket or towel over the canopy.

I would say for a child that age take the regular stroller. A baby that age will be sleeping in the stroller at times and you want something he/she is used to and that will accomodate his/her needs. You are only on the busses for a short time, so that shouldnt be a huge issue. You are, on the other hand, in the parks most of the time and should have something comfortable for such a young baby. We took our heavy Graco travel system stroller for our youngest dd's first 2 trips at 3 mos and 17 mos. Sold it after we got home and just use her Mac Quest at home. I bought a Baby Jogger City Mini recently and Im excited to have it for our May Disney trip. You could always rent a stroller from orlando stroller rentals (link at top of page) if you dont want to bring one of your own.

I would also vote for the regular stroller. A child that young CAN sleep in an umbrella stroller, but it's certainly not comfortable for them. The better rested your child is, the longer you can stay and enjoy the parks. Plus, when my DDs were that young, I would change their diapers in the stroller (on full recline) to avoid crowded changing stations. It made us all happier people!

And you know this how? This always cracks me up when people say things like this, almost like when they put human thoughts to their pets. How do you know it isn't comfortable? If they are happy and sleeping it is comfortable. Babies are flexible and like to be all snuggled up, it is just like in a sling or hammock.

Maybe she is speaking from experiance with her own child. When you are not 100% comfortable are you a tad cranky when you wake up? Not fully rested? I know I am! So if she saw signs of an unrested child she can assume that the child was NOT comfortable. If I read correctly the child in question is 14 months old. Could be a walker now so being basically straight up sleeping is not comfortable. Would you like to sit in your car driver's seat (not reclined) and have to sleep?

I think that when you see a baby hunched over, head hanging in their lap, that you can assume that they are most likely not too comfy, but very tired. Most kids can sleep anywhere, but that doesnt mean they are comfortable. A child laying back with plenty of room in a reclined stroller looks much more comfortable. Its just obvious. DD is walking like crazy! I think a place for her to sleep and chang her would be best. Just worried about lugging it on and off the bus from the POP.

ITA! There's no way I'd do Disney with a 14 month old and an umbrella stroller. I've always taken a regular stroller, and it's never been a problem. We only use Disney transportation as well, and a regular stroller really isn't that heavy, and IMO, well worth any extra lbs. for the comfort/shading/storage ect. it has. We'll be taking our regular stroller again this Sept. for my now 3 year old. I can easily fold up and carry the regular stroller onto the bus with one hand.

Regular - makes it easier to recline when little ones need naps. Also had cover to keep little ones out of sun. We have been with a mclaren volo - nice - but again did recline - poor baby had a ouchie neck and although light didn't carry much at all. We took our Baby Jogger very light weight and carries lots, comfortable - (ours is like the ones from orlando stroller rentals) and we LOVE it. Wouldn't purchase another type of stroller. It is able to hold up to 50 pounds for version. Not sure how much the Orlando Stroller Rentals cost - but there is also an option too.

I would say a good umbrella-style stroller, ie... Not the $15-$20 ones but one that reclines at least some (not necessarily the whole way.)

I have a Macleran Triumph which reclines some (maybe halfway back), and DS slept comfortably in it at 10 months and still sleeps comfortably in it at 4. There are many other options in this class includings ones that are less expensive if that is a concern, but I'd go with this general style (but I am partial). Easy on/off buses, some storage under the seat, but not too much to completely bog you down at the end of the day, and easy to manage around the parks because they aren't too big.

Macleran, Chicco & Peg Perego make quality umbrella styles. Some with even full recline if that is a concern.

We bought an awesome evenflo umbrella from target for $70. It comes in pink, red, and great. Best umbrella I have tried!
