Ultramickeymouse Our thoughts

Robert and Linda- sending you both positive thoughts and lots of strength infused pixie dust pixiedust: Imagine a herd of elephants helping you along with your recovery (oh look it's big red and little red!).

Good luck with it all, you're in our thoughts whether your online or not!

Hi all,

Just got out of hospital and back home. Surgery time alone was a whopping almost 4 hrs(3:40) . Was told originally 2 1/2 hrs. I was wheeled in to surgery at 7:30 and didn't hit the recovery room until Noon. I have one whopper of a brace and have been taking lots of drugs in hospital. Morphine drip(and button control for more on demand) , Tagnot(?), and Percocet.

Home is no fun as my brace doesn't bend and can't get upstairs(or down) with crutches so have to crawl. Bad as I am allergic to my cats and try to keep leg clean. This is just like when I was in the wheelchair for my Achilles. Linda has to hold my leg.

I did 3 hrs in my CPM yesterday and will do the same soon. Dr said surgery went well and I go see him on Monday for my 1st post op visit.

I will be taking more drugs soon so chat later. These are going to be a long few weeks until I can get to our Folsom Condo which is all on one level after getting up stairs

Linda isn't doing well as she hates to see me in pain and the whole home situation.

Thanks for all the PD.

Hi Robert...

I'm glad to hear your surgery went well but wow...I'm so sorry to hear you are in a lot of pain and having so much difficulty getting around. Sending you tons of pixie dust for a super speedy recovery. And sending some hugs  to Linda since I know she must be worried sick. Hang in there...and hopefully spending some time in the condo will help ease the stress of your situation, even if it can't help the pain :(.

Stay strong Robert...we're all WISHing you a full and speedy recovery! :goodvibes

Robert -

I just wanted to wish you and your wife the best through all of this. You seem to have a positive attitude with everything and that will definitely help you during your recovery.

Here is hoping you get well soon. Hang in there :)

Robert & Linda - glad to hear the surgery went well and sending all the best and lots of  to you both. Here's to a speedy and healthy recovery!

So glad you made it home okay!

That is terrible that you are having such a hard time with mobility--we went through that when my dad had back surgery. We just rented him a hospital bed and left him in the family room for five months.

Take care of yourself. Looking forward to seeing you in January back to your racing self!

Duckie

YEAH!!! good you have that part of this deal over with, Hang in there.

Best to Linda, wish we were closer.

Robert

I'm glad to hear the surgery went well according to your doctor. I hope the pain subsides soon, that your mobility increases, and the recovery is speedy. My thoughts are with you, and with Linda as well.

Dear Robert,

Glad the surgery is over and everything went well. Sorry you are in so much discomfort, but keep telling yourself it will eventually get better. Keeping both you and Linda in my thoughts and wishing you a very speedy recovery. :flower3:

PTL surgery went well! :flower3:
Glad you were able to come home. Hopefully the pain and difficult part will end quickly. :grouphug: to Linda!

Hey Robert - glad to hear you made it home with no complications. Now the fun begins huh? I don;t envy you. Just think you were doing the Goofy less than 3 months ago. Now 2 operations later and you are crawling up the stairs. You've come a long way :)

This is just a small step in your recovery and you'll be as good as new!

Hang in there,
Duane

Robert, glad to hear it went well. WISHing you and Linda strength as you get all well.

Sorry to hear about the creative stair climbing. Better living thorough chemistry for now.

Yes, things could be worse. I couldn't sleep in our bed so will try the Lazy Boy as I can sleep there during the day. The first day off hospital meds has been tough but... I hate the complications of all those pain meds:rolleyes1

Linda is getting better and we are figuring things out again. The CPM unit is fun but at least I can do it while napping or watching tv.

Can't wait for DL:yay: and crutches gone. At least 2 days down!

Robert, glad to hear that things are getting better with your recovery. At times I love sleeping in my Lazy Boy, especially when I have a head cold and chest congestion!!
Some times Percocet is great and others its nausiating(sp). Take care and take it easy, be careful with the stairs!!!

Robert

My best to you and Linda in the coming rehab process. It's great the (long) surgery went well, and I know with your level of activity and dedication with rehabilitation will be successful.

P.S. After breaking my left leg lengthwise some years ago I went through all the fun you are now, including the motion machine and 12 weeks on crutches. Having a sports goal to get back to drove me in the rehab. As I biked, lifted, walked, then was allowed to jog, I thought constantly of my next athletic event. I truly kept me going and working every day, the thought of being out there again. I know you are itching to be back, and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Linda just took these pics of my brace and my mobile IT command center. The brace goes from the hip joint to the ankle bone.

Robert...

You look VERY comfy in that chair and the mobile IT unit is pretty cool.

Keep up the great recovery!!

So glad to see you posting, Robert! I love the mobile IT command center. Sleep in the LaZBoy if it's comfy. :)

You'll be out there racing again soon! In the meantime, enjoy the perks of bad daytime tv and internet access. ;)

Lovin' the mobile IT command center!

I always love sleeping in the recliner. I know, not the same when you have to though.

Hang in there and think about what races you can take pics of my butt at! :rotfl2:

(for the newbies, so I don't seem like a total pervert -
Robert & I kept passing each other during last year's Minnie 5k. There are many lovely pics of my behind on his website!)
