Ultimate Park Hopper Pass question

We are going to Disney and I have a question concerning the Ultimate Park Hopper pass. Mousesavers.com says that you can remove either your arrival or departure day from your pass at the discretion of the desk clerk.
We will be arriving early in the am after traveling all night and we don't want that arrival day to count. (we're staying for 3 nights, and just want a 3 day/2 night UPH) I am concerned with this notion of discretion of the clerk, however as I don't want to be told I have to buy the 4day 3 night pass.
Comments? Have people had any problem with this? Am I needlessly worried?
Any help is greatly appreciated- sorry if this post isn't appropriate in this forum, or if it has been answered elsewhere- I can't get the search function to work.

Thanks!

PS- if we were to just walk up to one of the all star hotels, say next week, and ask if they have rooms available, would we get one?

Yes, you can take your arrival day of the UPH. Just let the desk host now what days you want the hoper to be for. (Meanig when do you want it to start and when do you want it to end.)

When I go I normally take off the arrival date and the departing date. So you should not have any problems.

Now when it come to the All-star resorts. You might want to make a reservation before you get there. If you show up, and just ask for a room, you might get one, but you will be paying the rack rate for it.

When we were there two years ago, a couple just walked up hoping to get a room at the All-Star Music. They were told it would be $150 (around there) for the room per night. This was at the same time that we had gotten a room for $59 a night, because we had a discount code and we made a reservation.

But know that you can only get a UPH if you are staying on site. You can not get them off site. If you are staying off site, you can only get a park hopper or a park hopper plus.

Hope this has been helpful.

It shouldn't be a problem with the UPH if you are buying them when you arrive not beforehand.

I would also try to get a reservation ahead of time. The rate may be better.

As safteymom said, you can do this without a problem as long a you don't purchase the pass in advance. We do this everytrip, since we always fly in the nite before and have never had a problem. If you are using a package including the pass, I do not think they can do anything about it at the desk.

I see that you are from Alaska. I don't know if you are military or not, but if so, you can discounted UPH passes (they call them Stars & Stripes passes) by showing your resort ID at the Shades of Green ticket office.

And echoing everyone else, no way would I show up without a reservation.

Have fun!

Thanks everyone for your helpful responses- it never hurts to make sure about certain things.

Yes I'm from Alaska, and no I'm not military- I live here of my own free will, but thanks for thinking of other options.
