Hi All,

Ok, have my ressies with the new code that just came out, now I need to decide on our park tickets. We are on a budget. Family of 5. We will need 4 adult and 1 child. We are staying 7 nights, 8 days. We will probably be at our hotel the 1st day by 2 pm and we don't have to be at the airport on our last day till 3 pm.
We were orginally thinking of just purchasing a 4 day plain hopper, no plus for each of us. We are staying from Wed-Wed and decided to do parks TH, FR, MON, and TUE. Saturday or Sunday we were going to head to Daytona Beach, my kids have never seen or been in the Ocean.

But now we will be staying onsite at POR, is the Ultimate Park Hopper Ticket the way to go? I don't see us visiting Disney for years to come, but of course who knows, so unused days don't really seem that important. My boys 14 and 12 will love Disney Quest, and staying at POR it will be close by. My husband and I want to visit Pleasure Island at least one night during our stay. I just don't see us going to a park every single day we are there. I will want rest and relaxing too! My daughter is only 5, so will she really benefit from an Ultimate Hopper?

Please share your advice and opinions!! Thanks!!

Well if you get the UHP and decide to go to the beach one day you'll be paying for a day you are not using.
If the only plus you'll use is PI I would get the plain PH not the pluses and pay extra for PI. Perhaps try Deb Willis site where she has all the prices out for comparison and start calculating the benefits/costs of each ticket.

UPH are length of stay passes-good for that trip only.
They are great for unlimited theme park, waterpark, disneyquest, pleasure island etc.

You might want to try a 5 day hopper plus (You can do
PI and DQ as a plus and still have 5 park days).

Here's a link for you.

I wouldn't buy Ultimate Hoppers unless you're going to do waterparks and/or lots of Disneyquest, which btw is not exactly close to PO. You can pay admission one time to each of those and come out a lot better than with Ultimate Hoppers. Disneyquest, alas, is NOT one of the pluses on hopper plus passes either. I would buy hopper passes if you're not doing waterparks, hopper pluses if you are. If you get 5-day ones, then really wish you had another day, you can upgrade it.

Unfortunately DisneyQuest is NOT a plus option.

But I also don't think that's necessarily a reason to go for the UPH, particularly if it will just be the two sons who are interested in DQ.

I'd consider the 5-day Park Hoppers (w/ 2 Plus options each) and get the two teens single-day tickets or Annual Passes for DQ.

Single day tickets to DQ can be found for about $24. But if you think your sons might want to make multiple, short trips to DQ, the AP may be worth it at around $85 per person. The AP would give them unlimited access for your entire trip--including days you don't even visit the theme parks.

The UPH will run you about $380 per person (adult), while the 5-day park hopper can be found on-line for about $250. If you have other things you want to do around Orlando, why pay for a UPH that you won't use.

I don't think I will ever buy UPH's again after our experience this past January. My sister ended up spending way more money than she should have buying UPH's for her family of four. DH & I usually have AP's or purchase park hoppers from Ticketmania or AAA. We bought UPH's for our grown children in Jan. 2002 and had a really good CM that helped us out. This year we got a terrible CM. I knew more than he did! I don't think I will chance that experience again.

If you are planning time away from disney I wouldn't get UPH's. Check out the link momrules gave you and you should be able to figure out which is the best option for you.

Unless you are really set on Daytona I would suggest Cocoa Beach. It is a little closer, about 30 min.on the Beeline expressway, and the public beach is really nice. It's also easy to find. You literally dead end into it. Parking is $4 but well worth the closeness to the beach.

doesn't sound the uph would be for you this trip. remember the uph pass has to be purchased for the entire length of stay( 7 nights). If you're planning on a couple days at the beach and some resort days, it won't benefit you to purchase the uph.

Here is the link to the ticket prices at Ticketmania.

We've purchased tickets from them several times. We normally stay 8 nights and don't do the parks every day (have to go visit dear MIL and do Sea World or Universal). So the first time I got 5 day hoppers (did water park outside of Disney) and we used all 5 days, because like you, we didn't think we'd be going back anytime soon. Wrong.... had such a good time, went back again last year and are returning next week. :p So now I always buy the hoppers (can't make more than 1 trip in a year so we don't buy AP's) since their days never expire. Have two teenage daughters so this year we got the PHP's so we can do PI and the water parks. I know it all seems confusing, but just take some time and you will figure out which passes are the best for you! ~:D~
