I got the Ulta mailer and they have mineral powder compact on sale for $9.99. This is so much cheaper than Bare Minerals. I didnt like Bare Minerals because of the shininess on your face. Has anyone tried the Ulta brand? It gets pretty good reviews on makeupalley.com but just wanted to hear from some DISers.

OT slightly lol but can i just say i love makeupalley.com woo hoo!

I'd like to know as well since the first Ulta store in our area is opening up in just a few days.

I picked up a compact of Physician's Formula mineral makeup at a drug store. I like the feel and finish of it, but the pressed "powder" is to be desired. I don't care for the half-moon brush that is not that great to work with.

Someone on the boards recommended Everyday Minerals (www.everydayminerals.com). I ordered samples and the mini Kabuki brush and I really like the way it looks. It's also priced muich lower than Bare Minerals. My samples are almost expired and I am seriously considering a full-size purchase.

Haven't tried Ulta, but I second the everyday minerals! :thumbsup2 They have a semi-matte formula, but I thought it made me look chalky. I really like the intensive formula-it has more coverage so you use less and doesn't give you that shiny look that BE does. It's worth a try for the generous samples for under $4 just to take with you on your next trip.

After trying the samples, I ordered a kit with 2 full sized foundations, concealer, blush, mineral dust, and a brush for $28. That's a deal that can't be beat.

Thanks to whoever recommended it!

Where did you guys get the samples? I did not see anything on the website about samples but maybe I just missed it?!

I just got the sample kit of the everydayminerals two weeks ago. I ordered the intensive formula and I LOVE it. Much beter then glo-minerals and BE imho...and much less $$$$$ :cool1: . If you are looking for the free sample just click on makeup kits and scroll down to the bottom of the shopping list. It is a VERY generous sample. I like the fact that there are no preservitives and very few ingrediants in the products

How on earth did you decide on the color of the foundation? Seems to be too many choices! :confused3

Exactly - that is why I want to try the Ulta Mineral makeup because you can test it right in the store. I guess I will just have to try it and report back. I wasn't too impressed with Physicians Formula and I don't really want to order something online because I have done that and have all these shades that didn't work sitting around.

Not to freak anyone out but did you see Today or one of those shows where they showed all the ICKY germs they found at make-up counters?!? :guilty: I wish they'd stop showing those things! :sad2:

I found everyday minerals' shades to be lighter then BE. I normally wear medium beige so that's what I ordered from EM, but it's too light. Must go darker.

Okay that helps because I use BE now and have the medium beige!
So I'll orderer darker from EDM! Thanks!

Initially I liked the EM intensive formula because I didn't like the "glo" of the original. In the past few days I've warmed up to the original glo's appearance. It really does give a more youthful appearance and great coverage.

You get to pick 3 colors of foundation with the samples. I ended up with Fairly Light which is the same name I buy with BE.
