I got turned down for DAS for colitis and am pretty bummed. We have tickets and I can’t see going without DAS.

I feel like the cast member I spoke with didn’t have a clear picture of UC and I didn’t fully explain it. She told me to have others wait in line and I could leave and come back if I need to. Sounds to me like there is no need to offer DAS if that is now their policy. Anyone else have recent experiences like this?

Thanks. What they said is DAS is not for people who can’t wait in line. Lines are everywhere now, standby and LL…

I was pretty confused because I can’t fathom what the purpose is, if not to be able to not have to wait in line.

you have to remember the CM are not DR and if you tell them your DX they do not know about

Are you currently flaring? I might try it without and see if it works with having to leave the line as needed. Then you can go back and tell them it’s not working and why.

My daughter has UC and honestly doesn’t need any accommodations unless she is flaring. So I wouldn’t consider it a deal breaker unless she was in a flare.

after you try a few rides if you still feel you need DAS go back and explain what you tried and why it did not work. you might get a different answer
I have Crohn's disease and I know of another person that does too - the minute we mention Crohn's and our need for rapid bathroom availability we are approved. I just asked him and yes, he too has never had a problem. UC is the "sister disease" of Crohn's. Try saying Crohn's because I think they understand what that is more than "colitis". Also, if you do reference your UC make sure you emphasize that it's ULCERATIVE Colitis and not just regular "colitis". Colitis is often overused vaguely for IBS and other stomach issues which is not like the very serious auto-immune disease that UC and Crohn's are. I think it was just a misunderstanding. I'd try to call back or yes, visit Guest Services as suggested after trying a couple rides. But you should NOT have to be separated from your party for the majority of the day while you sit somewhere waiting for them to get to the front of the line and then text you to come meet them up front or some such thing as it seems they told you to do. Not only does that sound like an isolating experience it can be unsafe - look at how many incidents of violence have been occuring lately with people punching others for "cutting" the line - when in fact someone had to go to the bathroom and was trying to rejoin their family up in front. Sounds like Disney is now TELLING you to do that?! Definitely call again and get a different cast member. Good luck!
