UK to Dollars conversion help...ebay related

Hi UK Disers,

I'm bidding on a dress on ebay, but there's no mention of shipping fee to the US. The auction is going to end soon, and I'm asking for help here in case she doesn't respond in time.
From the info below, can anyone guess/approximate what a possible shipping charge would be for a thin, summer dress? I've heard stories of US auction winners being charged very expensive shipping fees, and I don't want to be shocked if I win the bid.

well to be honest you should of asked before you bid.
I would not have an idea how much the seller would charge however the uk shipping fees seem quite high to me anyway.£3.40 2nd class is a lot.
sellers seem to charge what they like.
