My friend is getting married at a Hilton so we are going to stay there the night.

The wedding party rate is £82/night which to me seems a little steep for a Hilton that doesn't even have any tourist/hardly an business connections.

We'll happily pay that if it's the best rate though.

Any tips on where to look for Hilton offers etc.?

If its a weekend Hilton have a sale on at the moment (ends in 4 days) for 50% off weekend stays.

Otherwise £80 sounds good for a Hilton as they generally more expensive.

If the £80 includes breakfast I would suggest that is a good price

When we went to Florida last year my parents drove us to the airport and I booked them in at the Edinburgh airport Hilton. I looked online, then phoned as well to see how the rates compared and at the time, no difference.

Dinner, bed and breakfast was £120 - and that was a special price because I took a No Change None Refundable rate and paid in full over the phone. The folk on the phone were really great - I was almost envious (DD and I paid MUCH more for room only at the Raddison SAS in Manchester - stony cold, no atmosphere and nobody speaked english :rotfl2:

Your £80 sounds good. Have a look and see what you get if you go for a non flexible rate.

The Hilton.co.uk website has it's January sale on at the moment and includes all UK and European hotels. There are also discounts on the US hotels as well.

I know it's Gatwick Hilton, but for an idea on comparative prices, we paid £150 for the triple room last year for one night before we flew to Florida. We can currently get the same room now in the sale for £67, and it includes breakfast. :thumbsup2

This is, however, the non-flexible, non-refundable, no-you-can-never-have-any-money-back-no-matter-what-happens type of contract/room booking! :rotfl:

Yes go into their website and you will see 50% off January sale.... go into the reservations that way. For example they had Bath Hilton for 60 per room including breakfast which is very good for there. You did have to book by end month but is valid until I think June time??? You do tend to pay more for Hilton hotels .... maybe have a look around to see if any other chain hotels close to the venue - where exactly is it??? :goodvibes

Thanks for the 50% advice guys. Sadly it isn't available on the wedding night. :(

Thanks for letting me know £80 is a good price though. I rarely stay in UK hotels, and seeing as this one is out of the city, near literally nothing I assumed the rates would be around £50/60 for some reason.

We'll go ahead and book on the wedding discount.

We're driving over to the UK at Easter and we managed to get the Swindon Hilton for £38.50 including breakfast in the January sale (at that price I booked two rooms for the 4 of us)

I have booked hotels via active hotels - might be worth a look to see if any others in that area

you can use Tescos vouchers to pay for Hilton hotel stay, each voucher is worth 4x the amount so £5 tesco voucher = £20 of Hilton vouchers, we stayed at Hilton Portsmouth last summer for 2 nights for £50 in Tesco vouchers, check out Tesco website for info.
