UK Free Dining 2007

We couldnt resist either three weeks going on the 8th of august probably staying at sanibel island then 10 days at pop and then a universal hotel We cant wait just hope globespan at glasgow are ok. We booked through the disney web site :thumbsup2

We went to Disney for four weeks in August / September this year and did the 10 day DCL Southern Caribbean cruise so we weren't going to go back until 2008. However, when we saw the Virgin and Dining Plan offer we booked to go for two weeks next August in the Caribbean Beach - it was too good to turn down (so my wife tells me!!!).

We took up the offer. When we got there in August, we were like, we are soooo coming back next year and not leaving it another 5yrs. We were contemplating staying onsite for the first time, and when the free dining plan became an option, we decided to rearrange our dates slightly and take up the offer! And we're sooooooo looking forward to it, I've already started planning where to eat and when!

hi does anyone know when the free dining ends if you book direct with disney, we had to wait to find out if we could go in sept next year and missed the virgin offer, thanks for any advice susie2

The free dining plan was discussed on this DVC thread http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1279607&page=2&pp=15 and as you will see, not everyone is convinced that it definitely will be offered in the USA next year (see posts 17 and 18 in particular).

Fingers crossed for you - it may very well be offered again, just not guaranteed at this stage.

We are booked for next September too but haven't gotten our flights yet :) . Hoping to get a good deal but when do they usually do the sales, around April sometime? Right now I need every extra penny for this trip. We are leaving in 3 days :woohoo:.!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the UK free dining offer ended at the beginning of November. :sad2: The dates were standardised (I believe) through Disney itself and the various other agents offering the deal, eg Virgin, First Choice, Airtours etc.

We're going to CS for 2 weeks on August 13th paid £100 to change booking from the 11th to get the free dining, saved nearly £1000 on food!!!!!

Yep, we're going too - 2-16 Sept at ASMovies. Sounds like its going to be one big party. party:

We are flying out on 12th Aug 07 - the first day of the free DDP! going with TCD who price matched virgin including our FVC discount (10%) and knocked an extra £200 off! flying with virgin anyway and staying at AKL for 14 nights in Savannah room. I can't wait!

So if you ring Travel City Direct you can ask them to fly with Virgin?
I'm sure I tried this coz I'd heard this from a friend who is doing this, but when I asked TCD they said they only used their own Travel City planes?

Can you use this on your 3rd trip or after your 3rd trip?
A Virgin reservationist I spoke to said "next time you'll be able to use your Frequent Virgin discount and get 10% off" but this is only our second trip with Virgin. I thought our 3rd trip needed to be complete and then you could use the discount from the 4th trip onwards?
Darn, should have got the reservationist's name and the date, they record their phone calls for discrepancies like this, cudda got me an early discount for next time!

The Virgin Flying Club gives the same 10% off and you don't even need to have holidayed with them before. PM me if you want an invite :thumbsup2

We're getting free dining too: Going 13th-27th September next year with Virgin staying at POFQ, yay! :cool1:

Thanks, I just registered with them last night actually. So do you get 10% off flights then as soon as you've registered? I need to read more about it, I signed up to collect the air miles. Shame I didn't do it sooner or I could have put last year's holiday on there (they will only backdate miles for 6 months)

Well there seems to be quite a few Brits on here who've taken up the offer, my only request is that as I'm going on the last date free dining was available, please leave some food for me! ;)

Update: I've read more now, up to 10% off Virgin Holidays with Flying Club membership.
Well I don't think they'll give me anymore discount now I've already booked, have free dining, 3 free nights at Pop offer, and knocked me off another £100 as I told them Travel City were cheaper! Good to know for the future though, thanks :thumbsup2

Apolohgies.. still getting used to acronyms.. TCD is travel city direct?oops. I meant Thomas cook Direct (although thinking about it now I think it was thomas cook signatures.. sorry for the confusion)

Yes it will be Thomas Cook Signature, Thomas Cook (normal) just use charter flights.

You may be able to still get it.. I got mine applied later (replaces the online booking discount) It's only off VH stuff though not VA but sometimes VH flydrives are cheaper than VA flights anyway.

Oh yeah, I also got the online booking discount honoured as the internet would not price up the free dining correctly so I had to ring them.

So I think I've exhausted all the discount they will give me!!

travelcity direct also will give you prices for scheduled flights.
maybe they were fobbing you off into flying on their own planes.
