Hello my UK friends!

I've just been learning about 'regional' DVDs and know that a UK region DVD won't play on US DVD players. My question is...will a regional DVD play on any computer? I thought I had seen something long ago that said it would. Any advice appreciated.

.....and you can blame this question all on Richard Armitage and the fact that Netflix doesn't have Sparkhouse....

In the UK your can get multiregion DVD players that will play DVDs from anywhere in the world. These are either purchased as multiregion players or you need to put in a 'secret' hack code to make them multiregion - not sure is this the the same in the US?

With PC DVD drives you can usually change the region a few times before it 'locks' on the last region played. I believe that there is a way to unlock them with the DVD firmware.

Note the UK DVDs will be in PAL format and not the US NTSC format. UK players and TVs can handle both PAL and NTSC - again not sure if that is the case in the US?

Hi, I believe computers are region locked and you can only change them a certain amount of times

Thanks for the info.

Kind of figured it wouldn't be that easy!

I've still got several seasons of Spooks to watch, so that will hold me for a while! Then there will be the movie arrivals of Captain America and The Hobbit to see in the coming years. I figure once he gets on the big screen we'll be seeing plenty of him...he's a fine actor.
