Hello all you lovelies at Disboard/
Every year or so I take a plane from the UK and hit up Orlando because I like a bit of escapism and the chance to relax, but also have a non stop, safe adventure where I can blend into a crowd.... with me so far?
In previous years (solo) I have stayed on international drive and had an awful time, due to fellow tourists/locals or the shocking facilities. Disney is where we stay as a family, yet accommodation is priced by room which would be throwing money away....

I am looking to come over for a fortnight- without the husband and kids to have a chilled out break and recharge my mummy (and wife) batteries.

Now whilst I am looking for suitable pitch for a single, 1 lady pup tent, the UK site doesn't give me that option, and the USA site has pitches- yet these are suitable for up to 10 people- including additional small tents.

Is there ever a situation where a family might lend a pitch space for monies? Or there be a specific area I should request where I would be nearer to assistance should I need it?

I am unsure why the UK site wont allow me to book CFW through them. Any ideas?

With love from some random weirdo :D x

tinkagem,

we've had probably a half dozen requests like this in the time i've been a member of the DIS and I am not aware of any of them being successful (although I admit I don't know the outcome of every single one).

however, it might help if you tell folks what time of year you are considering.

also the tent loops are the cheapest and the big one (2000) has almost 70 sites and two comfort stations and the small one (1500) has 21 sites and shares a comfort station with 1600 next door.

we've had solo campers post here and their experiences were fine.

Tinkagem,

It is odd the UK site doesn't allow booking a campsite. I can only presume Disney doesn't believe someone would bring their caravan across the pond for a stay at the Fort. While bringing the caravan over is a bit far fetched, bringing (or purchasing locally) a tent to use seems very reasonable.

As Ed noted, there have been a few requests to "share" a site. I also am not aware of any that progressed beyond a conversation here.

I might suggest calling the reservation line instead of using the web site. They may be able to book a campsite for you. One other option would be to mask your local web address and emulate a DNS from the US. This would make the reservation site think you were in the US and allow a campsite booking. Although sounding dificult, any 17 year old computer wiz can do it in a few seconds.

How far out are you trying to book? Are you within the appropriate booking range?

First, check the rates for the time of year you are traveling. I really want to camp at the Fort, but the times I have traveled solo, the rates for the tent campsite is a wash with the price of the value stays, but I did have an annual pass for great discounts at the time.

I have stayed in the cabins at FW and tend to go through the various camping sites to get ideas for when I do get the chance to actually camp at WDW. Most of the sites are within view of other sites. You can do youtube searches for "Fort Wilderness loop 1500" or "Fort Wilderness loop 2000" and get an idea of the set up.
