UK brides - video

probably a stab in the dark, but does anyone know if we have a standard video on US format DVD will we be able to convert it to UK system cheap/easy back home? We're going with a magic moment 2 hour package at $500 (top of our budget for video) but if we want them to put it onto a UK format DVD it'll be an extra $100. So, what I want to know is, I presume it play on our multi-region player, but if any of our relatives/friends wanted to see it and they have only standard players could we get it transferred to UK or will it be protected against copying, or more expensive than the original transfer fee of $100?

When I talked to A Magic Moment, the lady said their DVDs are not copy protected and said I could make as many copies as I want.

its very easy to open a dvd player up to play multi region dvds. Our dvd player was uk only but my DF looked up a code on the internet for our dvd and now it plays any dvds. Just a thing that might help

most cheaper dvd players are normally multi region anyway (they dont say it is but they normally are). i bought a £120 one 4 years ago and thats multi region, my brother bought a £500 sony one and that only plays region 2.
if it doesnt play US dvds, as sarah said, you can get often get a region hack code for them off the net, just google "region hack" with your model number.
if that doesnt work there are companies that convert videos and dvds into PAL format, just look for companies in the yellow pages that do this. might be worth a phone call to them to find out how much they'd charge.
personally i would think that the $100 isn't really worth it, cos chances are the dvd will play on most people's dvd players anyway.

It was only if we lent it to someone else, so I think we'll just stick with the standard disc and save a few $'s.
