Hi,

This might seem like a silly question, but being in the UK and the Officant being in the USA - what in your opinion/expertise is the best way to pay the Officant? I'm a bit clueless when it comes to this, would a regular cheque be ok or would this cause trouble with different currencies etc?

Thanks :thumbsup2

Hi fellow UK Bride! We ran into this issue when paying the deposit to our photographer. I ended up using paypal in the end, but I did find out that you can go to your bank and get a cheque made out in US funds (depending on the bank there are different charges for this). If i'm not mistaken I believe travel agents can offer this service too. Hope this helps!

How are your wedding plans coming along? Have you got your date all sorted? If I remember right you were going to be around the same week we are? :goodvibes

Thanks so much for this, its very helpful. My next step was going to the bank and asking for help, so thats what I'll do!

We are booked in for 24th Oct 2011, had a site visit when we were in Florida last month so mega excited now but also a tad scared about booking things!

How are your plans coming? Which photographer have you gone for?

Hi another UK (VR) bride here!!
I paid my officiant's deposit with a traveller's cheque sent registered post. This was his suggestion and seemed to work fine!! I will pay the balance on the day.
For vendors who take cc's, I have a pre-pay cc (Fairfx) card which I only load in dollars and just use in US. HTH

Thanks for this! Ok so I could just go to a Post Office and sort it out? I think I'm making the whole thing a lot harder for myself by constantly worrying about it all!

I've got the photographer booked and I'm thinking once I have paid the Officiant and booked Hair and Makeup I shouldn't have to worry too much anymore... that won't stop me though!!

You are getting married the day before us! We are 25th October at 12.00! Got back from Orlando yesterday (am soooo jet-lagged! Lol) we had our site visit whilst we were there too, which was great.

We have Jason Angelini booked for our photography. He did Wendy's (weedee's) photos. Check out her TR if you haven't seen it, her photos are beautiful (as was the whole wedding, amazing colour scheme). So far he seems really nice. :goodvibes

Glad to hear your plans are going well! :)
