Front of lower right leg has been hurting today. I did walk 10x's this morn but may rest tonight.
What's the best thing to do? walk or rest? Please tell me I can go back to walking tomorrow

with shin splints - but usually when starting back up after a long period off - odd that you are getting them now?

My philosophy was if I could "run" through it at the beginning of a jog and it eased up so I was able to continue then I would. But if it's painful - don't.

did you know that shin splints are actually micro-fractures in your bone? you don't want that to escalate to a stress fracture and be out for good for a while!!

Did you know that taking an asprin a day (or equivalent of some type that also acts as a blood thinner) may reduce the pain of the shin splints?

just some FYI

Do you do good calf stretches before exercising? Also, real good shock absorbing running/walking shoes are a must. Do you walk on pavement. Sidewalks have a slight tilt to them for drainage and it is bothersome for some people., not to mention the surface is not very forgiving on the bones. Is there a good track near by that you could walk on?

Good luck, I know the pain well :(

I've had shin splints before - very bad and what I was told my a doctor was to rest them and ice them. Gosh they're painful, aren't they??

Good luck!

I hope that you feel better today.

God bless, best wishes, and encouragement, RaySharpton:)

That was going to be my reply--Ice and Rest. I hope you don't have to rest to the point that you have to start over.

As a strenghtening tip--while sitting at work, at table, at rest...lift your leg slightly and draw the "alphabet" with your toes. It will assist with conditioning.

Speedy recovery. Good luck. (Mine weren't "very bad" and I was able to lay off a few days and work through after that.) If it is very bad or intensifies, you must lay off.
