Uh oh............we got bunnies!!!

Thumper must of sent word out............we have a nest of baby bunnies in our front yard!! DH and DS were cutting the front lawn when it looked like someone opened a jack in the box!! I had forgotten how teeny Thumper was when we found her. They have made their home in the garden right in the center of the yard. From what I can tell, there are 4 of them. They have all been named.....Pistol (because he can hop the fastest and when DD picked him up to place him back in the nest, using gloves naturally, this tiny little furball screeched like you wouldn't believe!! ), Bashful for the one that wouldn't leave the nest and just peered out from behind the marigolds , Stripe, for the one that has a white strip between his ears and Jasper...........simply because the kids liked the name!

The kids are begging to bring one inside. NO WAY! I want these babies to lead the life they were meant to! (but they are SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!! )

We had bunnies in our yard a few weeks ago. Fortunately, my husband realized they were there before he started mowing. They were really tiny and "naked" and they got bigger and furry in just a few days. We had to check on them daily and my son (3yo) kept wanting to touch them. Then one day they were gone. But, they were fun to watch.

Please leave them where they are. I've heard that doing so will let them survive and grow as they should. I learned, however, the adverse results myself several years ago. And please don't let your kids handle them too much, especially if they're rough.

I can tell you are new to the boards, even without looking at your post total. Brief rundown of last spring.....til the present!

DS was cutting the neighbor's lawn. Flushed out a nest of baby bunnies. Mom bunny came and retrieved all but 1 baby....this one had health problems and she abandoned it. I was not about to leave this little one to die outside and brought it inside. Hand fed Thumper (check out my signature ) every 4 hours by syrienge..........FF to today.............Thumper is still a member of my family.........still has the head tilt that caused her mother to leave her..........and still has me wrapped around her little paw!

I made it clear to the kids that I want these babys to live the life they were meant to. The only reason Thumper is inside our home is that was her only chance of survival.

Are you able to take a picture of these bunnies? I want to get one for my daughter, but I was outruled, so no bunnies for us.
