Sooo I just got back 2 weekends ago and next week is my week long vacation. I was going to stay home and do absolutely NOTHING. Well...that was until I found a hotel stay for $400 and a plane ticket for $179. AHH!! Should I do it?? My AP doesn't run out until the 18th of October. It would be 4 days of solo time haha. :rotfl: :rotfl:

*chants* Do it! Do it! Do it! :wizard:

Okay found out why the plane ticket is only $179...they charge THIRTY BUCKS for a carry on and $35 bucks for first check back. I'm thinking of driving :)

You just wear a couple of layers of clothes and take a big purse :rotfl:. Carry on? What carry on? :confused3;)

Crazy airlines. What, do they think you're going on a trip with just the clothes on your back to avoid the carry on fee? I know it's getting more expensive to fly, but charging for carry on is ridiculous.

Let me guess, Spirit? ;-P I'd still say do it, and fly. Driving by yourself would be no fun, and it might be worth an extra $70 to check a bag.

It would be worth a few extra bucks to NOT drive...

But you should do the trip either way!!
:thumbsup2

OP, I live in Oregon too. I am assuming you will be leaving from PDX? On what airline did you find that rate? And to which airport? LAX or SNA or ONT? I would like to check the rates for our trip in March. Thanks for any info you have to share!!

Try to find a hotel a little cheaper and save $60 for your bags. That is what I would do!

Which hotel are you looking at, and for how many nights?

Seeing this post inspired me to take another look at my cancelled 40th birthday Disneyland trip last night... and we figured out how we can do it after all! YAY!

Ship your clothes to the hotel and back! I've never done it, but people do and it might be cheaper.:confused3

Toiletries at the hotel. Spend the $60 on clothes at DL:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2

GO!

A perk of traveling solo: no travel companions to complain that you've worn the same clothes every single day! My sister once packed for an entire trip in a laptop bag. You can (and should) do it!

Yep :thumbsup2! I went to DL for 3 days and flew with just an oversized purse. My dd and I were in a sort of minimalist contest. Believe it or not, she won. Her purse was not oversized

It's amazing how little you can get away with! Wear layers on the plane, sleep in a t-shirt (or nothing!), and take clothes that aren't bulky and roll up nicely. If you need something you can always buy it when you're there!

ya but see this is a trip that would be next Monday lol so it's near impossible to find a cheaper hotel

What hotel is it? Do you have any points or miles for an upgrade or free night?
