My best friend and I went to visit her parents in N. Louisiana last Thursday. We brought both our kids and had a great visit. Cupid ( yes that is her name) got really really sick late Sat night and had to go to hospital. Turned out is was just a virus, but she was told not to travel few at least a cpl of days. Well needless to say it was time for DS4 and I to go home he had school on Monday plus while he loves his adoptive grandparents its not his house and he was driving me nut, but i just figured we would tough it out. Her dad said never mind staying, take Cupid's car and Ill bring her home on Wed. Her Dh also said he would come and get her in a cpl of days (5 hr drive) So i left and thank goodness i did. DS4 got a raging ear infection on Monday night and has been sick since. Cupid call's tonight and was hinting around to come get her tommorow. Well Ds has missed 4 days of school and im hoping he can go tommorow... no fever since late last night, plus my dh is off tommorow and then works for 8 days in a row. I want to spend tommorow with him. Should i just get in the car and go get her behind?? I did tell her if noone had gotten her by Sat i would get up early and come get her. But i know she is ready to come home now, her 19 month old is ready to come home, but with a workaholic daddy and granddaddy they arent helping much.
I feel so guilty ughhhh!!!

Honestly, if your hubby is home tomorrow anyway and can take care of things whether your son goes to school or not, I'd just go get her. Although her hubby should feel ashamed that someone else is making the sacrifice of the long drive to pick up his wife when he should really be doing it.

Although they said they would bring her home it looks like they aren't and since you did use her car to come home.... I think you should go get her. I mean they could have not offered you her car to come back. I would go get her tomorrow since I took her car. ( if you didn't have her car it wouldn't be a problem)

I dont have the car anymore of course, i dropped it off at her house and had my DH pick me up. I hate to miss the day with DH since its his only day off in a week and then he works for the next 8 days after. This is the second time ive had to pick her up at her parents, the last time a hurricane was coming while her sister was visiting so her DH sent she and the baby home with sister and then told her he couldnt pick her up for a week even though the hurricane went the other way. Dh and I also have plans tommorow night with a cpl that we hardly ever get to see. I was so looking foward to the kids playing together.
Im gonna call her and tell her ill get up really early 6 am ish and jump in car and pick her up. That should get me home by 6 pm and hope we wont be too tired to see our other friends. Good lord, why cant folks just do what they said they will do.

It seems to me she could hold out one more day, for you to come and get her or maybe actually get her husband or father to hold up their end of the deal.

Your a good friend to be conflicted about it!!

WOO HOO!!! I just called and told her i would pick her up in the morning and she told me that she rented a car and is coming home, but thanked me profusely for my offer.

Thank goodness, i love my friend but was not looking foward to a 10 hr drive lol.
Her husband is such a butt.

New problem now - do you pay for the rental or at least split it? Glad you don't have to do a 10 hour drive.

LOL ummm hell no i wont offer to pay. A) its not my fault she got sick and couldnt leave as planned B) its not my fault that her DH and Dad didnt stick to their end of the bargain C) I have driven up there several times and not asked for gas money D) her DH makes about 500 k a year and left his wife in this mess so he can pay for the rental E) she left her purse in the car while shopping up there and I bought her DD"s crocs to the tune of about $55 and Im not worrying about her paying me back. We buy each other and the kids all kinds of stuff and never pay each other back unless its a major purchase. F) I filled her car up before i dropped it back off, so she will be coming home to a full tank of gas.

Glad it worked out. See I think sometimes we are being tested and when you decided to do the kind thing it all worked out. Just my opinion but next time and in the future I think I would be using my car when I traveled with this lady!!! Enjoy your day tomorrow!
