ugh )))) vons wants you to buy 50.00 in grocerys?

I am very politely asking this question. Why do you want water delivered to your room? When DH and I went to WDW the last thing in the world we wanted to worry about was groceries. We took a camelback and a single bottle each for water (both of which we refilled throughout our trip) and it worked out great. I don't understand the need for having water delivered to the hotel. Just curious....

We had a case of water delivered because frankly, I can't stand the taste of So. Cal water. Even in the Grand Californian Hotel, apparently it's not filtered or anything, and to me it tasted just awful, everywhere we went in the DLR area. I couldn't even swallow while brushing my teeth. So that nixed all those wonderful ideas for refilling water in the parks, etc. too. Admittedly we're spoiled; our area has some of the best tap water in the nation. I also hesitate over the landfill issues, although I comfort myself that we recycle religiously here at home. :thumbsup2

As far as groceries in the room, we ordered from Vons the first time, and Albertsons the second. We preferred Albertsons, and I'm sorry they stopped delivering last spring! We like eating breakfast in the room to save money and time, so we ordered cereal boxes, milk, juice, yogurt, fresh fruit, a pack of plastic bowls and spoons, a roll of paper towels; and then some snacky things like cheese and crackers, which ended up being lunch some days along with the fruit. It worked out really well. When I had to make a minimum of $50, I just ordered a couple of bags of treats (Dove chocolates, anyone?) that could go home with us if they were not consumed.

Also-- about waiting in your room for your order-- I would schedule the order to arrive an hour or so before we expected to be there. The bell desk will hold them for you. When we stayed at HoJo, we arrived early and wanted to go to the park, so I asked them very politely if they would please put our groceries in our room for us when they arrived, and they very kindly did that, putting the refrigerated items in the fridge. Great service!

Hope that helps--

What about Office Depot? I know they deliver and have water. I know they also have snacks, but I couldn't tell you what.

That's a good thought! Staples too! I don't know if they have delivery order limits, but those are definitely options.

FYI the last couple quickie trips when I asked for ice water at counter service places, they gave it to us in very small cups. As in, VERY small. They're onto us. Of course, it does save time, but it isn't the BIG cup I got on a solo trip when I had a nasty headache!

I will look into this thank you :)

I heard this to, yep, I think they want us to all buy bottles of water or fountain drinks.

Yeah, we did this last year and most of us ended up with stomache/bathroom issues. Next time we go, it will be fresh, new bottled water each time we need a drink. But for those of you that can do it - great! For us - grocery order of bottled water it is!!

Very interesting answers to my question. Thank you. When we went to WDW we bought the camelback pouches that slid into our already-going-to-be-using backpacks. We filled them with ice in the morning and it was melting ice cold water all day long. As for snacks, I guess we just go with what's at the park - part of the fun of being on vacation. We could not imagine ordering groceries, although we read about people doing it. Everyone has their own approach.

Sort of OT, this makes me think about the economy discussions on other threads on this board and how much money is NOT going to Disney on food, beverages, and snacks.

Again, thanks for the other viewpoint with the answers to my question.

P.S. Reading the delivery issues, I think I may have found a new business opportunity. :upsidedow :goodvibes :wizard:

Oh believe me, I spend a fortune on foods in disneyland. I only eat in the parks, well occasionally I may try other places but in large my money is in the parks. And I do go to mostly sit down resturants.
and WDW has great offers of free dining meals that we have always missed out on.
being diabetic I do want snacks to carry, its hard to run to a cart or restaurant when your blood sugars are falling fast.
and I love bottled water as I do not like the taste of water there.

They sure do! As I sit her at this very moment, at HOJO (;)) waiting for my $51.68 order to be delivered. It was supposed to be here between 1 and 3, it's 3.31pm right now. I just called, waited on hold for 10 minutes and was told my delivery would be at least another hour... then conveniently got disconnected! GGGRRRR

No, I'm not irritated at all:rolleyes:

I hope your order makes it...mine never did and it took me

them 2 months to reimburse me!!!!

ok, glad they did not work out for me, I am no taking that chance!! Thank you for letting us know. Im just going to buy water in one of the mini marts in the hotels. Im just not going to stress over this any more.

by the way staples and office depot also wanted a 50.00 minimum .

Well it finally did make it and since we flew it was worth it in the end. If we ever fly again we will likely order groceries to be delivered again... $50 is a lot though!

We decided to go with the flow, get water from the motel stores and fill up in the restaurants in Disneyland. Im not getting 50.00 in grocerys to appease Von's, and I have seen some major screw ups on the web Von's has made.

Haven't people told you that, when going "south of the border", not to drink the water?!! ;)

Of course, "south of the border" for you is the USA... :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

And yet I was strangely more aware of getting food poisoning, not getting sick from the water :lmao:

It looks like Vons is not delivering anymore, or at least I can't figure out how it is supposed to work:confused3

When I try to log in and use Disneyland's zip code, I get the following:

"We apologize, Vons.com does not deliver in the 92803 zip code at this time."

Has anyone been able to order from Vons recently? If so, what's the trick?:surfweb:

Mommy2allyandaveri just ordered from them. I order from them all the time in L.A., but I don't know what zip code you are required to enter for delivery to a hotel near DLR, or how that works. Plenty of people who go to DLR do it, though, so I can't imagine Vons would want to risk losing that business.

Try the zip code 92802:)
