I can't believe it but I think one of the twins has it. I know I should treat both and myself, and will call the dr. tomorrow, but curious if anybody has a favorite cure or even one that did no good? seems like I am seeing several approaches to it.

Genetian Violet. Local healthstore. Both my boys had it.

I seem to remember DD got an antibiotic for it and we had to brush it off with a tooth brush.

Antibiotic or gentian violet. Genetian violet is a VERY MESSY PURPLE treatment, but it works if you don't want to go to the doctor. Your child's entire mouth and everything it touches will be brilliant purple.

You need to go to the Dr. and get an antifungal treatment. My son had it when he was an infant and Diflucan cleared it up in one day.:wave2:

Save your money and go get the Genetian Violet at the healthstore. It's like 7.00 and works fine. If you are breastfeeding, it will turn your nipples purple. If you aren't, it may turn the bottle nipple purple for a bit. It wasn't that messy, if you applied as directed.

If you use gentian violet, I would suggest stripping the baby and administering in the bathtub. It seriously stains. If you go to the doctor, you will get Nystatin which I believe is banana flavored. You will probably get Nystatin in cream form or some other cream for your breasts. I was given extra Nystatin syrup and told to rub that on. These are antifungals not antibiotics.

I would also suggest boiling your bras, pump pieces, bottle pieces, or anything else that touches the baby's mouth or your breasts.

Good Luck! Thrush is really common in babies so don't feel bad! :)

thanks everyone! if we do go to the dr, do you think she will prescribe what is needed for me (we do bf) or just the babies? or will I need to go to my own dr.

She'll give it to you for you too. It'll be gone, with whatever method you choose, in about 5days with antifungal stuff. :D
