You think I'd learn! DD is spending the night with a friend tomorrow night. DH is out of town working. So, asked Grandma if DS could spend the night with her. Was so looking forward to a night alone. Well, he's been awful all day! Whiny, mean, not listening, wouldn't eat his dinner. Last straw, told him to clean up his room - ignored me - told him it was last warning or he wasn't going to Grandma's. The moment the words came out of my mouth, I thought, "Oh no! Now I've done it!" But it was too late. Ten minutes later, he's in his sister's room playing. I go look at his room - nothing has been touched! He sees me and gets this look of horror on his face. I was ticked - "That's it! You're not going to Grandma's!" Oh Lord, then the screaming and tears started. He had that room clean in 30 seconds, but too late. He's been crying for 30 minutes. I'm about to pull my hair out. So needed a night to just rent a movie and veg out on the couch!
Thought you might you know how my night ended up. It obviously was so not meant to be. Took DD over to her friend's house, draggin DS crying and whining the whole time. Got home, gave him some cold medicine (he really did have a stuffy nose - the drowsy side effects was just an added benefit
), and he went to bed a little earlier - not much. Anyway, ended up staying up late wrapping presents since I couldn't start until DS was asleep. All in all, still a quiet night, went to bed around midnight. At 4:00 the phone rings, DD is throwing up and running a 102 fever.
When DH got back in town, I told him that I knew what I wanted for Christmas. I wanted to just go to a nice hotel somewhere for just one night and be completely alone! His response, "Oh, that sounds great! Who's going to keep the kids so we can go?"
He obviously missed the "be completely alone" part.

He finally quit crying about 15 minutes - honestly figured he had fallen asleep until I heard him playing with his trains. He just walked out here and gave me a big hug and said, "Mommy, I'm being nice."

We have to stick together
that's so sweet, aren't little boys the best!
