Just called MS. We had booked AKL Sav view 2 BR for Oct, first night was Value because they didn't have Sav view (with waitlist for Sav view)...now we wanted to add two nights because it is a holiday weekend and the airfares are ridiculous. So called MS, no AKL available. I kind of figured that might happen, so I said just check any other resort and see if we can do the whole time somewhere else. NOTHING is available. I find it hard to believe that there is zero availability in DVC for 2 BRs. I figured BCV & BWV would be hard because of Food & Wine, but nothing?
Are there any tricks tips? I kept our AKL res for now, just in case...
Thanks

If you are wanting days following Columbus Day weekend there is hope. If someone at BLT cancels their 1 BR, my WL will come through and that will open up a 2BR standard view at BWV which I currently hold. I hope we both get our rooms! Good luck.

Have you considered going on the wait list for the last 2 days you want? if there are some cancellations as time goes on you have a fair shot at getting those extra days. I wanted AKV for our trip in May but had OKW reservations and after about 3 weeks my wait list request came through. I then discovered we could stay an extra day and called MS about 30 days out and much to my surprise there was availability for our extra day. I was thrilled! You have nothing to lose by trying the wait list. Good luck - here's some pixie dust! :tink:

Okay, I am on a waitlist for 10/7 for AKL 2 BR Savannah View, with a res for a Value view just in case it doesn't come through. Then I am booked 10/8-10/10 for AKL 2 BR Savannah View. I want to add 10/10-10/11. I know it's Columbus Day wknd, but I thought I could at least switch my whole reservation over to another resort (like the big ones: SSR or OKW) if we couldn't get AKL. Surprises me that everything is booked. I am wondering if I can do another waitlist, and if so, should I do a waitlist for AKL for the extra days or do a waitlist for a completely different resort for the whole time so that I might not have to keep changing rooms! Advice?
(And thanks so far! :))

October is a busy month for DVC. The only time I was ever shutout for a reservation was when I wanted a Sunday night in mid-October as an add-on to a business trip. Nothing anywhere, any room size.

That surprises me as well. I would have thought there would be a room at SSR or OKW. The only options I can see (depending on the ages you are dealing with) would be 2 rooms - a 1 br and studio or 2 studios. Otherwise it looks like you will have to pay cash for a couple of nights.

But it's only 3 months away, and October is VERY popular with DVCers. I make October ressies well before the 7 month window opens.

You are only allowed 2 active waitlists at a time so if you have one for the 7th and another for the 10th that's it. If you cancelled one of those you could waitlist for one of the big resorts.

Your other option is to ask MS is if there is a cash room available. I had originally booked 3 nights on cash for the first week of Oct and then waitlisted for them. They did all come thru but my waitlist started just a day or two after the 7 month window. It is an option that would allow you to have a room for certain and possibly stay in the same resort or maybe even same room if that type is available.

We are in a 2 bedroom, going 10/14 - 10/21 and the only thing available was SSR. We are on a wait list for BCV & BWV for 3 months now. So far......no luck. I can't even get a night or two at either resort. It's gonna be crowded!!

I called about the week of Nov. 13-20 (I called 1 month ago) 5 1/2 months in advance and there were no 2 BR then either. I'm new to DVC so have no expectations. So, I wasn't surprised but is it normal for them to have 2 BR 6 months out?

I know it's a busy time. And I do have a reservation, just wanted to add days. It turns out DH has a conference to go to in Orlando that weekend, so we wanted to extend the time a bit. Plus the airfare is ridiculous to come back...I will have to talk to DH and see what we think we should do...I am just really surprised that SSR & OKW are completely booked. BWV & BCV, not surprising because of F&W. But we have gone at this time before and never had trouble and I never thought it was that crowded! Frustrating!
Thanks for your suggestions, I appreciate the feedback!

Spend the last 2 or 3nights off site, enjoying some of Orlando's other attractions - Universal (are either of you Harry Potter fans, will you be there for Halloween Horror Nights)? Sea World, Bok Tower, etc.

Off site or cash, possibly the member discounted cash reservations.

There have been reports of people having toruble with those nights for a couple of months now. I know when I was booking for that week- I am there Wed- Sat and booked in April and there was only SSR avaiable for my entiore time. They had a night here or there at the other resorts but nothing for all of them. I am not surprised at all that you can't find anything even if you wanted to move rooms everyday.

I know it's not nearly as good as DVC, but....we currently have a 1BR booked at AKL and a reservation at Sheraton Vistana Villages. Our friends are thinking of joining us and there were no 2BR's available, so we'll cancel DVC if they come. Allears Accomodations page lists the deal. It's advertised as a 1BR 3 night package but you can do a 2BR for $86 per night and I believe you can do more than 3 nights at that price. Stayed on this deal last Dec (also no DVC availability) and it was a beautiful resort and very short drive to WDW.

Ok no one rat me out for suggesting this.....

Why not book that last 2 nights at Universal with the HP package? Its a pretty good deal.

That weekend is also mouse adventure....might be consuming some rooms. I am going oct 7-11 for that reason and booked at

ETA. It is being held at Animal Kingdom Park...so AKL is probably pretty popular.

We are goin g to Universal through the conference, WWHP will be opne one evening just for us...so I dont' really need or want to stay there. Plus, with points, it makes the trip cheap cheap, which helps me justify the second trip this year! LOL
Good to know that the mouse event is going on...I may call MS and just try for two studios and stay separately for those nights...Does anyone know whether the AKL 1 BRs that accomodate 5 book fast as well? We have 2 adults, 3 kids...
Thanks for all ideas & insight so far! DISers are a wealth of knowledge!

I'm new at this so can someone help??
Trying to rent points nov3-9 2010 at
WLV, two bedroom. I'm told no availability.
What about cancellations? Do some owners
