Ugh!!! Men!

Well DH and I have talked about doing a DCL cruise since last summer. Well mostly I talked and he listened. (and he didn't even do that part very well) So I brought it up again last night. I am turnign 40 in Feb and wanted to go in early March. And he still won't book it. Last night he told me he would rather go to WDW instead. He knows DD4 loves it (we have gone the last 2 years) and he just feels to limited on a ship. I tried to explain all the benefits of the ship and the pluses, but he just kept shaking his head like he wasn't convinced. I know he would love it and so would DD. He has a problem with change though and likes to do the same things over and over, so once he does try something and likes it we then do it alot. LOL! I have read books and done so much research for the cruise, and I am so sad he won't give it a chance. I was so excited for it too.
So at this point it looks like we are going to WDW. Now I'm happy with that as well, but wish we could try DCL and give it a chance. Maybe after a few years of bugging him and as DD gets older, she can work on him too. LOL!
So thats my rant for today.

Maybe suggest trying the smallest length of the cruise which would be 3 days. Add on to your WDW trip! Tell him 3 days won't kill him!

I agree with above PP, take your daughter and go by yourself! I know, not possible for some, but still!

Tell him it's your b'day and you want a cruise. Once he gets on the ship he will love it and even better since he won't have to pay for meals.
You could do a search to look at the Navigator's from past cruises and show him the list of activities available and ask him what is so limiting about them. Come armed with menus also to show him all the wonderful food that is available. I'm sure if you came armed with these in print to show him he will change his mind or at least he can point out to you what is limiting to him.

If all else fails - sit him down in front of the computer and log onto here and show him how we all can't be wrong about a cruise.

We used to go to WDW at least once a year and loved it. We tried the cruise 4 years ago when my daughters were 4 and 6. Ever since, our family only wants to cruise. We LIKE the parks but we LOVE the cruise. I think it is mainly because there is all the fun but none of the "lug, tug and pull" of the parks.

We are now a family of six and we're taking our 5th cruise in June. Our last cruise was the 15 day Eastbound Panamal Canal transit in August. We thought after 15 days we would have had enough but no one wanted to leave. The parks are a great TRIP, the cruise is a great VACATION.

Either way, it's Disney! Enjoy!

Your DH sounds like my DH!! "I'm going to be so bored on the cruise, what all can there be to do on a ship, blah, blah, blah..."

Well, we are going on a 3 day cruise this September for our 5 year anniversary, to be followed by a week at Disney World. And the cruise was an awesome deal too, so he liked that. Maybe try suggesting to your DH that you do the same thing, go on a short cruise and then go to the parks, just to try it out. If he hates it, well, it's only three days. If you never try anything new, you will never know if you like it!! Imagine, if he had never gone to Disneyworld, which he clearly loves, then he wouldn't know that he likes it!! LOL!! I totally agree. Suggest a Land and Sea vacay. 4 Days at WDW, 3 days on the Wonder. See, he gets his 4 days, so technically, he "wins."

To be honest, I for one, think it is pretty cool. Not that he is a stubborn mule, as most men are, but that he loves Disney so much. What a catch!

Your daughter is the PERFECT age for a Disney Cruise.

Honestly, my daughter, who is about the same age as yours, is the only reason I cruise with Disney. When she and my son are older, and no longer smitten with all things Disney, I'll probably save some money and go on other lines.

Hey! We went to WDW every year with our DD from the time she was 3 until this past year when she was 6...so four years of it. Our DD absolutely adores WDW and that is the #1 place she asks to go when we talk about vacation. I sure hope she is not disappointed when she finds out we are going on a cruise...I have this fear that she will say, "but what about the rides?!" - LOL! But she's also been on a land trip to Grand Cayman with us and loved that also, so maybe the combination of islands and Disney will be just right for her I hope your DH comes around and decides to do the cruise with you. My DH wasn't really all that interested either and said he would only go if we got a verandah, which basically meant we wouldn't go unless we took DD out of school since the DCL prices are obscene for a verandah during peak season!!! After "working on him" for awhile, I appealed to his practical side and now have us booked in a cat 12 for spring break...so it can happen...you just gotta keep naggin' them - it took me 2 years - HA HA...

I know your husband is extremely resistant but I recommend pushing for at least a 4 day. To me there is a significant difference between the cruise experience on a 3 day and a longer cruise. The 3 day is just too rushed there is just too much to see and do on the ship. It seems, on a 3 day, like you hardly get a chance to unpack before you have to pack up again to get your luggage out on the last night. On the longer cruises you get to relax and truly experience the benefits of cruising.

Don't give up, it took me over 5 years to convince my parents and sisters that cruising was the ultimate vacation. They finally gave in last summer and we are booked on a 7 Day in May.

I agree with some of the others, if you can, just go with your daughter! My husband sounds like yours, he doesnt like to try new things, so every yr I ask if he wants to go and if he says no, I take my kids by myself or with my mom. We usually do two vacations a year so he joins in the second one, usually on land, LOL!

Ask him if he would like to be able to spend some romantic time alone with you? My son turned 3 right before our cruise and he loved Flounders and the Club so much we only had to eat dinner with him one night out of seven. We were seated a a table for 4 so that means we got the table to ourselves every night. It was like going on a date every evening!

You may even be able to convince him with the kids sail free on three day cruises.

So in essence he's really only paying for you a birthday present since she's sailing free!!!

Ok I AM your husband! I have loved WDW everytime we have been and was VERY reluctant to try the cruise, now I'm hooked on DCL! You can tell him it is a floating WDW and you don't have to get fast passes for anything and its all within EASY walking distance!

All I can say is WHEN you do the 3 day cruise tell him to be prepared to book on board for the discounts cause he's going to wish it were for a week!

I wanted to cruise Disney ever since my son was 4, he's 9 now. I finally convinced DH in 07 with a 3 day in Nov. I planned everything and he wanted no input. Long story short, we weren't on the ship a 1/2 day when he said this was the best vacation he's ever had and by day 2 insisting we book again and for at least a 7 day- we leave in June for the Eastern He's counting the days more than me.

I suggest the 3 day with trips to the parks- everyone wins

Thanks everyone. I was looking at only a 4 day as we are very limited on the time we can be away from home. (we're dairy farmers) So no chance of doing the world along with it. DD actually cried this morning. She started talking about going on the Disney boat, and I told her that dad would rather just go to the parks. but after I told her she is now tall enough for some bigger rides and she can do BBB she seemed fine. But the nshe cried again alter about it, and I reminded her again about how big she is now, so I think she's happy. Thats my fault for showing her all the DCL pictures.
MY DH is very stubborn, so I don't know if I'll change his mind, especially since we usually vacation the first week of March, which means the ship is filling up and the prices are higher, as no lower cat.s are available anymore. Also I can;t go alone. I don't work, so he's the payer and he really likes vacation to be family time. I even try to branch off and do stuff on my own while they sleep in and he feels like I'm leaving them in the dust. LOL! (but honestly they are just to slow for me at times. LOL)
So maybe if we keep working on him we can go in a few years. But I highly doubt he will give in at this point. And yes, I do know he will love it. But we will be happy going to the world instead too. He did tell me to price it if I had a chance. So of course I did, and if we book by tomorrow we can still get in on the deal and do 6 nights for the price of 4 and get a $200 gift card. 6 nights is sushing it for us, but he also wanted to fly out of the local airport into Sanford, and the flights are Sunday and Sat, so I got that going for us. LOL!
If he does change his mind I'll update ya!

I agree - leave him home! It's YOUR 40th birthday, and you should get to choose what YOU want.
