I live in a multiple-building apartment complex, with about a hundred units per building. There's a pretty strict rule about pets, notably, no dogs. Where there are exceptions (one service animal, one or two 'grandfathered' dogs), the office is supposedly aware.

This morning, there was a pile of poop in the lobby

Our complex allows dogs... oh what a mess. It wasn't too bad until the neighbor moved in with a pitbull and another small dog. Now the grass is a mess, and there are poop piles all over the place... despite rules saying you have to pick it up. Ugh!

Blech. In the apartment complex where we used to live, our upstairs neighbors let their puppy poop under the stairwell near our door. They never cleaned it up and neither did the guys who would come to clean the walkways of other debris. It was there for at least 4 months.. we moved out before it was gone. Who knows how long it was there for.

Now are you going to start an investigation to see who the culprit is? Can you give us a list of suspects? We could have a poll then.

Yeah.

The responsible dog owners - the service dog family, at least - are VERY conscientious about walking the dog as needed and carrying a supply of bags, plus the dog is well-trained, so it wasn't that dog. Ideally, it was a visitor (and, to someone else - yeah, ideally it was a pet!!!!!)

Maintenance here doesn't get paid NEARLY enough!

Well, there's the SD; there's a bull terrier; and I don't know the third dog. I got home around 9 the night before and left just after 8 AM, so it could have been a visiting dog.

Maybe one of the three dogs got sick and couldn't make it all the way out the door.

Well, since animals have no way of letting themselves in or out of the building, it had to have been accompanied by a [completely irresponsible] human... and when I mentioned the 'gift' to another tenant - who didn't need to use the lobby - I was reminded there ARE security cameras. Ideally the culprit will be caught.

At the risk of sounding disgusting... sort of like a large order of soft-serve ice cream?

Yes, it sounds like he was having a gastrointestinal issue.... a dog's poop should'nt look like soft serve ice cream.... I know what you're talking about though (to the OP).
