I just made the call and heard the dreaded words -"You are required to report..."

I hate jury duty. I know it's my civic duty and I will do it, but I still hate it. It's not even inconvenient tomorrow - I have nothing on my schedule. I just hate going and especially the chance I might be seated on a jury. I would really, really hate that.

Just venting...

I hear you. I was called a few months ago as well. I was dismissed (IMO) b/c I don't do well under pressure. Meaning that if my opinion differs from the majority, I get very, very nervous. I break out in red blotches on my neck, my palms start sweating, I get the shakes due to my nervousness, and the feeling like I'm going to cry. I never could handle being under pressure. The sad thing is that I'm almost 40 and I can't control it :sad2:

I'm sorry to hear that. I don't have that reaction, but I would hate to be seated on a jury. If I just have to sit until lunchtime and read, I can tolerate it. But I just dread it...

Oh I feel your pain! I have it on the 8th and I'm dreading it already. However I have a lot of respect for our legal system so I will put on my big girl panties and deal with it. :goodvibes

Yep, me too. I wouldn't dream of not doing it - not interested in having the sherriff come after me - but I dread it anyway and want to whine about it.:rotfl:

At least it didn't interfere with our WDW trip last week!

I really enjoyed jury duty. It was very interesting....and didn't interfer with any plans, so it was all good (for me anyway)

This is probably a dumb question but are you allowed to bring cell phones with you? I'm guessing if you are picked for a jury you would have to torn them off but what about those who aren't selected?:confused3

My summons didn't prohibit it, so I'm bringing my phone, my Kindle and a needlepoint project. I might bring my iPad instead of my Kindle. It said free wireless Internet was available so I don't think they prohibit any electronics in the waiting room.

Oh cool! I guess I didn't give my summons the attention it deserves.

I had mine and nothing was said to me about it other than we we asked not to use them during our BR break during selection process.

At my jury duty in Maryland, I wasn't even allowed to bring a cell phone into the building. I was instructed to leave it in the car.

I've been called for jury duty seven times and selected to serve once. It was a great experience but also very difficult to have to decide another persons fate. Good luck and try to stay positive. Things can always be worse!

I was on state jury duty in 2008....people had their cellphones with them. I would keep it off while waiting. And certainly any time you're in a courtroom.

I got a federal jury questionnaire a few months ago...I'm really dreading that. You can be summoned for 2 weeks. (in my county, they either get you on a jury or you're done.) And 2 are 2 courts you can serve jruy duty. Since I don't drive I have to use mass transit to get there. And neither one is easy to reach from my home. One is a little bit easier, but they don't guarantee anything. But like you've all said, I'll put on my big girl panties and deal with it.

I have to report on Thursday and I'm not looking forward to it. I'm not allowed to bring any electronics, including cell phones, so I guess I'll drag a bag full of books with me. It would have been fun to play with my iPad 2.

So glad that I returned the juror qualification form because if you didn't, you have to report even if you would have been excused!

By no electronics would that include my Nook? I prefer that over a book as that is how I read now.

Probably Nooks, Kindles, iPads, DS's, etc. are all included in the no electronics rule. If I'm not excused and have to report on Thursday, I'll find out for sure.

I took my kindle, and just appreciated the chance to set around reading guilt free. :) I hope your day goes alright.

I don't mind jury duty, but I REALLY think they should quit with all the rules. Come on, they should be trying to make it as pleasant as possible for jurors. And they could be a LOT nicer. YMMV.
