Sounds like a greek party for dinner tonight! I wouldn't refreeze as is. But, I would cook them up and eat them today and gauge whether they are fine or not.. Or, freeze them once they have been cooked and determined whether they are good or not good.
Did you really have to throw out all of the meat? If there were still ice crystals in it, it was okay to refreeze. If had only been overnight, it probably still would have been okay to cook and refreeze even if the meats were completely thawed.

I just got up and noticed DH left the fridge open so I know how you feel At least it is now cold here and he also left the balcony door open so the whole place was pretty cold I only had to throw out a couple of things.
my roommate did this to me a few weeks ago. must have come in drunk because i woke up to find a bit of water on the floor near the fridge, empty ice trays on the counter, a dish towel thrown randomly over something on the counter (maybe it was a spill that dried up overnight?) and could not understand why a glass of water would cause such a mess. i noticed then the freezer was ajar. luckily i had meat a bit further back, and only had to cook a bag of veggies, some soup, and threw out one or two small items.
i feel your pain, i thought i was going to cry when i saw that, i had just gone grocery shopping the day before and re-stocked, was relieved that since it was just a crack over a few hours almost everything was still frozen.
the poor fridge sounded angry too after being on all night trying to keep cool
Couple years ago DH left the freezer door open like all night. Everything was thawed by the time I noticed it. I just pitched it all. Definitely wasn't a happy camper about it. I figure whatever it costs to replace stuff, is definitely worth not getting sick from something.
DS did that a few weeks ago. Lost 6 or 7 bags of frozen veggies, a couple boxes of Eggo waffles, a box of popsicles and a tub of lunch meat. The popsicles were melted, the lunch meat was totally thawed. Soggy waffles and veggies--ick. Everything but the popsicles were in the door shelves, so they thawed first. The popsicles were in front of the meats in the freezer itself.
I kept the butter and meats--the meats didn't thaw and the butter I just tossed in the fridge Used the butter in cooking.
The ice cubes had partially melted in the tub (automatic ice maker) and it was making ice like crazy! The freezer was pumping really hard too--I think it was trying to keep it cool, and mostly succeeded.
